Scott USA today announced its return to the USA in the coming months and offer a full line of bicycles and selected cycling accessories for the 2005 model year. Beat Zaugg, President of Scott Sports Group said, “We have always wanted to return to North America. We felt this was the perfect time as our bicycle line has been extremely well received for years and is already sold in some 37 countries around the world. We have been getting many requests from enthusiasts in the United States asking to purchase our cycling related products. Our brand is very strong but we did not have the right person to manage the bicycle business in the USA. So when Scott Montgomery called we thought we should seriously study the project.”Industry veteran Scott Montgomery starts today as the US bike division General Manager and Vice President. “I am very pleased to be working with Scott bicycles, they have become the strongest brand in performance cycling in Europe with innovative designs and advanced technology. Last year, at Eurobike, I spent a great deal of time in their booth admiring their unique combination of cutting-edge technology and innovative use of materials of their extensive selection of cycling products. It was clear they were leading the market. So as I explored new opportunities I called Beat Zaugg to discuss a return to America.”

Scott USA is poised to grow their USA presence in a new 15,000 square foot home office in Sun Valley. The new facility will allow for continued expansion of the bicycle division in the years to come. Scott bicycles were sold in America throughout much of the 1990’s, but the company discontinued sales here during it’s tenure owning the Schwinn brand to avoid taking market share with two competing brands. The company later sold Schwinn, deciding to stay focused in the USA with its wintersports and motorsports divisions which sell ski poles, ski & motocross goggles, accessories and clothing.

The plan is to launch the Scott bicycle brand at the Sea Otter Classic in mid-April. The company will have a new truck and 35ft. trailer at the venue to allow consumers, dealers and editors a chance to ride new Scott bicycles. World Marathon Champion Thomas Frischknecht will be riding his full suspension Scott Genius Marathon Concept bike during the weekend. Also attending will be Timo Pritzel, former BMX World Champion and a former Sea Otter Classic Dirt Contest winner, riding his Scott Voltage trials bike. Joining Thomas and Timo will be long-time Scott rider, mountain bike legend and former World DH Champion, Greg Herbold.
