June 30, 2004, Golden, British Columbia - After recently learning it had set the record for the highest lift-accessed mountain biking in North America, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort decided to upgrade its already legendary mountain bike offerings with additional trails and a challenging Bikercross course.“For years, Kicking Horse has drawn scores of serious mountain bikers throughout the summer months, attracted to the sheer vertical drop and natural beauty of the area,” said Gord Vizzutti, Marketing Manager at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. “With the addition of a world-class

Biker-X and the transformation of existing trails, we will have even more to offer serious mountain bikers.”

In time for the opening of its summer season this past weekend; Kicking Horse Mountain Resort introduced six new biking trails, two on the lower mountain and four on the upper mountain, bringing the total number of trails at the resort to 22.

The resort also diversified the existing trail systems by adding berms, dirt jumps and smoothing out some of the areas and by adding the Biker-X. The Biker-X consists of a 450-metre dirt track featuring beams, dirt jumps, step-ups, dips and table tops. The area will serve as both a race course capable of allowing four racers to compete at a time and as an area with features for all riders.

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is open for mountain biking Friday – Sunday, noon to 8pm until September 6, 2004 with daily passes available for $30. The resort will host the BC-sanctioned “Terminator Downhill” race on July 18th, and plans are underway to add an additional 4x race on the 17th.

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, Canada’s newest all season mountain resort, is 2.5 hours west of Calgary on the Trans Canada Highway. For more information visit www.kickinghorseresort.com or call toll free 1-866-SKI-KICK
