Well it’s been a while since I did a review about bike movies. Recently Robbie Davidson of Privateer Racing
sent me a copy of his debut movie The Descent
, which I really like! The Descent
is jam pack with racing footage from various 2003 races in Eastern Canada.Race coverage includes Bromont Canada Cup, Tremblant Canada Cup, North Bay Ontario Cup, Valee Pruneau Quebec Cup, Mont Sainte Anne World Cup, Calabogie Ontario Cup, Camp Fortune Quebec Cup, St. Mathieu Quebec Cup and UCI Masters in Bromont – ouff! That my fiend is lots of racing! :o)
In addition Robbie added some Joyride Slopestyle, Flowriders, Freuban and 24 bicycles tour stop footage to the mix. And of course, the mandatory crash section at the end!
The DVD is 50 minutes long and gives you a good feel for the racing scene on the East Coast. The terrain is much different than say here in California, where it’s dry and most of the time wide open – most of Canada’s courses in this video is technical through thick forests. Good stuff!
Don’t expect the editing of Earthed, or the cinematography of The Collective, but for his first ever production movie; Robbie did a darn good job! Also, as most of you are aware, getting licensing for soundtracks can be difficult unless you do your own mixed. Therefore I’m sure the music variety probably won’t appeal to everyone – never does. But for the most part I liked it!!
Like I said, overall it’s a great movie and if you’re a racer at heart you will enjoy it even more. No bells and whistles in this one, just pure racing action footage! You want to get your hands on a copy? Easy, either visit www.privateerracing.com
or contact them at firstname.lastname@example.org
. Copies are $27.00 and include shipping and handling.
