Deschamps Family Donation Drive

Dec 8, 2004
by Radek Burkat
On Tuesday November 30, Diane Marie Deschamps was killed while riding her bike home from work. Diane was a single-mother to 3 children. She was a nurse who cared for others. She was a cyclist and active athlete. She was a Calgarian. We now have 3 young people left with very uncertain futures. I do not know the Deschamps, but as a parent, a cyclist and a Calgarian, I am compelled to do what ever I can to help out this family in need.On Sunday, December 12, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. you can also meet me for a short ride (or walk, or run, or just to hang out) at the bottom of Edworthy Park (in the parking lot at the end of Memorial Drive and Shaganappi Trail on the north side of the river.) We will ride/walk from there to Prince’s Island Park and back. A nice scenic Sunday outing.

But first, I need you to do me a favour. This coming week, go to your local TD Canada Trust branch or Joey Tomatoes or online on Pinkbike.com and make a donation to the Deschamps Family Trust Fund. Get a receipt or if you do it online, I will receive all names from Radek at Pinkbike. Bring the receipt with you to the ride. At the ride, I will give you a ballot to enter you to win some great prizes or draw from the names that entered online. All winners will be contacted.

I guarantee you we will have a great time for several reasons:
· We are outside doing something fun
· We are doing something special for a family in need
· Diane Deschamps will be watching over us.

Please take 1 hour out of your day on December 12 to help this family. No matter what the weather is that day I will be there.

Make an Online donatione of $5, $10 or $20 and help out a fallen rider's young kids. It's Christmas.
(Your entire donation goes to the fund)
