I just got this hot bit of information for all you out there that are thinking about taking in the
Alberta Freeride Awards and Biker Cross at
Canada Olympic Park this Sunday. The first year, one lucky snow racer went home with a new Santa Cruz Chameleon frame from the fine folks at Calgary Cycle and Santa Cruz Bicycles. Last year another fine individual won a Chameleon frame in the evening draws that followed that Biker Cross. Well this year, both
Santa Cruz and
Calgary Cycle decided to step it up big time!!!! What could it be?????This year’s
HUGE draw prize is going to be a
COMPLETE Santa Cruz Jackal!!!!!!! That’s right, one of you lucky Biker Cross participants is going home with a brand new fully built up
Santa Cruz Jackal. I can’t believe it, it’s so rad to see a shop like
Calgary Cycle going to bat for the riders each year with this event and then handing out such amazing prizes. Speaking of prizes, last year a grand total of
over $10, 000.00 (yep, 10 thousand) was given out in prizing in one night and all you have to do to be eligible to win a cut is sign up and race.
The Biker Cross format will allow several different levels of riders to square off against each other in 4 up racing. This means 4 racers on course at the same time through the C.O.P.’s terrain park. Past course designs have all featured big air ski jumps for the more adventurous big hitters, but also safer routes for those of us who are concerned about work on Monday. If you don’t feel like racing, you should still come out and take in the free evening of viewing, as this is a real pleasure to watch.
The evening will be hosted by
C.O.P. with registration taking place between 5:30pm and 6:30pm-please don’t be late. During this time you will be able to get your pre-rides in to learn the course and pick out lines for show time. Racing will start at 7pm and spectators will be given a great show. Good luck to all riders and
remember that one of you will be going home with an extra bike on Sunday night-a fresh new Santa Cruz Jackal.Calgary Cycle would like to thank the following:
