Kovarik and Jonnier Ignite at Angel Fire UCI

Temecula, Ca- July 11th, 2005: Angel Fire Resort in Northern New Mexico was the host to an action packed round of World Cup competition that saw Intense Factory Racing take the top podium spots in the DH race. The 2-mile course threw everything it had at the racers; nasty rock sections, tight tree sections, bridge jumps, a massive hip jump, high-speed straights, and even a road gap, but that wasn’t enough to keep our Intense riders from dominating the podium. Sabrina Jonnier was the top qualifier in Women’s Pro DH, and she held on to her top spot in the UCI points race by crossing the finish line with a massive 12 second advantage over second place finisher Scarlet Hagen (NZ) of Team Ironhorse.Chris Kovarik ran hard in his qualifier despite a flat tire that put him in the 43rd spot for his start position in the final, but his race run had him sitting in the hot seat for 39 riders, and he eventually settled for the bronze medal in the end. Kovarik’s consistency is unmatched this year, he has taken home the top five spots in every UCI he has attended this year which is amazing feat considering the nature of his injury that him sidelined for the 2004 season.

A special thanks goes out to our sponsors for all of their support in making this race as successful as it was, and to factory mechanics Trevor Raines and Spencer Moyers for putting in the overtime to relace numerous wheels that the Angel Fire DH course got the best of. Look for our factory effort to continue at the Crankworx Festival in Whistler, BC on August 3-7th.
