SRAM Takes Idaho by Storm

The NORBA series made its fourth stop at Schweitzer Mountain in Sandpoint, ID, this past weekend. All NORBA events were contested including Cross-County, Short-Track Cross-Country, Marathon, Downhill, Four-Cross, and Super D. Unstable weather including hail and 70 mph winds made conditions challenging but, as with nearly every bike race, cancellation was not an option. SRAM athletes put in one of the best performances ever with podium spots in nearly every event. The RockShox Reba fork, further proving its unrivaled versatility, landed on the STXC, Marathon and 4X podiums. The Men’s XC was won by full SRAM rider Liam Killeen (Specialized). Killeen took his first NORBA win aboard a RockShox SID World Cup fork, SRAM X.0 drivetrain, Avid brakes, and Truvativ Stylo Carbon cranks. Dara-Marks Marino (Ford Cycling) took second in the Women’s event on the full SRAM package, which also included the SID WC.

Sue Haywood (Trek-VW) rode a RockShox Reba Team and MC rear shock to her first STXC win of the season. The former National Champ said she will now ride the Reba exclusively based on its “unbelievable” performance. Marks-Marino again placed second. SRAM drivetrain swept the Men’s STXC podium with Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski (Gary Fisher), Killeen, and Geoff Kabush (Maxxis). Both Killeen and JHK ride SRAM’s full component package.

Jay Henry (Ford-Specialized) won the Men’s Marathon on an all SRAM bike. Both he and second place Chris Eatough (Trek-VW) also rode the RockShox Reba Team.

After one practice run on the new 2006 BoXXer Team with Motion Control technology, Team Honda-Turner rider Andrew Neethling knew he was on something special. The South African said his confidence immediately “soared” after testing the fork on the brutal DH course. The ’06 BoXXer is stacked with features including MoCo, BlackBox Speed Stack, direct mount stem capability, as well as aluminum control and adjustment knobs. Needless to say, Neethling took his first NORBA win. He also rode SRAM and Truvativ drivetrain componentry.

Jared Graves (Yeti) won the Men’s Four-Cross on SRAM drivetrain just ahead of the recently healed 4X World Champ Eric Carter (broken wrist). Carter also rode SRAM X.0 drivetrain including the new X.0 Triggers, plus a BlackBox Reba fork, Avid brakes and Truvativ cranks.
