ABA Annual General Meeting

If you are an ABA member and you want to influence the racing scene in
Alberta, this is your chance. The ABA will hold its annual general meeting
Saturday, November 3 at the Varscona Hotel (on Whyte Ave.), in Edmonton at
4:30pm.
Several positions are up for election this year, including:
Racing Committee(s)
-2 road and track positions
-1 mountain bike position
Board of Directors
-Vice-President, Administration
-Vice-President, Women's Cycling
-Vice-President, Recreation and Transportation
-2 Members at Large
To run for any of the above positions, candidates must be members of the
Association in good standing. Members interested in running for positions
need not necessarily attend the meeting; you may be nominated in absentia.
A lot of people have complained in the past that the ABA was overly focused
on road and track racing and was ignoring mountain biking (especially DH).
Having more mountain bikers on the Board of Directors would certainly help on
this front. However, this can only happen if enough mountain bikers run for
the various positions and attend the annual meeting. Let's make an effort
to be in Edmonton this Saturday, so we can express our collective voice and
positively influence mountain bike racing in Alberta.
