Product Test: On-One Reetard Bar and Stem

When Christian from Cycles-Simtra sent over the On-One Reetard DH/BMX stem and DH bar for a test I wasn't sure what to expect. I had heard good things of On-One's 3 piece cro-mo cranks, but originating in the UK, it wasn't a product line seen often in my neck of the woods. When I opened the package, I couldn't believe just how burly the bar and stem were. These are not for the gram counting bunch. With a 2 inch rise, 27 inch width and a full 5.2 mm thick, this is the beefiest bar I have ever seen. On-One backs it with a "2 year no quibble, bend-and-we-replace!", warranty. The 2 piece, 45mm, 5 degree rise (approx) stem is near-net forged then CNC'd to clean it up. It is then shot peened to add strength, anodized (black only) and given the (reversible) On-One logo. I set this bar/stem up on my dirt jumping playbike, a Brodie Bigshot/Marzocchi Monster T combo on Friday and will report back on it over the season. It is far stiffer than the OEM Brodie bar and stem it replaced. Even after a few big crashes this weekend, the bar is showing no signs of wear! Christian was also thoughtful enough to send over a set of Planet X's super tacky, tickety boo grips. I haven't found the time to install them, but once I have some frequent flier miles on them I'll let you know my thoughts!
