YOUR THOUGHTS - Downhill mountain biking

I see no reason why Downhill mountain biking shouldn't be in the X-games or even the Olympics (Canada would rule these events). What could be more excited? There is much to say on the subject. What is holding it back? Where is the marketing / biz dev support from the big Corpo sponsors ie: Red Bull, Fox, etc.? I hope these people are on the phone to ESPN and the other networks pitching our great sport. Downhill, Freeride, Dirt Jumps and so on is just as exciting as the Moto events. The biggest aspect is that just about everyone rides a bike, the potential audience is huge. Look at how Snowboarding has taken over. I think Downhill / Freeriding is the next big thing.
There are obvious benefits and detriments associated with a sport like downhilling getting exposure but overall more exposure would lend to better bikes, better riding, more money for pros. My greatest hope would be that it would open up possibilities for community bike parks and more legal trails.
