Whistler Bike Park has re-opened

June 4, 2002. For Immediate Release

Whistler, BC, Joyride Bikercross, will be held in Whistler, July
3 rd, 2002.

In an unreal transformation that seemed to take a few days, the snow
disappeared, a new bikercross track emerged and the Whistler Bike Park
re-opened. Over a thousand starving downhill fanatics came out to feed on the
man made booters, berms and puddles of mud on opening day.

Designed by Joyride Production's Paddy K, the bikercross track is definitely
the highlight of this year's Bike Park and it's ready for racing, "The track is
technical and fast, Joyride will definitely showcase some epic bike handling
skills," says PK.

This year's event is positioned between Mont Ste. Anne Quebec's World Cup and
Vancouver's Grouse Mountain World Cup. Some of the circuit's heavy hitting
medallists are rumored to be coming to Joyride Bikercross this year. It's no
wonder; the Whistler Bike Park is setting a new standard in park design and
Joyride Bikercross is Whistler's main summer mountain biking event. The
categories for Joyride Bikercross 2002 are Junior, Female, Senior Amateur Male
and Senior Pro Male. Joyride is open to all, but only the fastest will advance
to the main event. It's almost guaranteed that top pros will be up against
unknown rippers. "That's the beauty of Joyride," says Chris Winter of Joyride
Productions, "anything can happen." The qualifier begins at 3pm and at 6pm the
gate drops for some heated head to head action.

Bring your bike, ride a few laps and check out Joyride Bikercross. Matt the
Alien will be spinning and Ryan Leech of the Norco Trials Team doing his
mind-blowing stunts all at the base of the Bike Park. Be sure to grab a dog at
the Zero Ceiling fundraising BBQ too.

For all media attending Joyride Bikercross, contact Chris Winter at href="mailto:winter1@direct.ca?subject=info request from PinkBike.com">winter1@direct.casize=2> for accreditation. Please specify if you need to get on the course to
