Initial Impressions - Ridge Apex Fullface Helmet

When Jon from Ridge walked into the shop the other day with a few of next years helmets to show off to the public I knew right away that this would be my next helmet. At first sight, it's a work of art, I don't know how to describe it but the paint job on the helmet compares to that of what you would normally see on a $500+ helmet, but the beauty of it is that this helmet will only set you back around the $220 range. As soon as I put the helmet on it fit like a glove, no pressure points, and an all around perfect fit with next to no movement in it. I knew that I had to have this helmet.

So far I haven't done much other then just ride around the street with the helmet on, but already I have noticed how nice the fit is when jumping around, and the range of visibilty is extraordinary, the helmet maintains all my peripheral vision while still maintaining full protection.

The Apex is both DOT and CPSC approved, and is strong enough to be used for Motocross, Snowmobiling and Mountain biking. A carbon fibre version is also available for around $100 more.

Stay tuned for a full write up and review at the end of the season.
