Nice colour scheme. Overall good awesome bike. And awesome crankbros bars, good to see them coming out with new components besides pedals now.

I like the bike, but Carbon steerer tube and carbon crown? Seems a bit...a LOT...sketchy to me.

I want a Remedy so bad, but I have the little brother of it and it's kinda pointless to have 150mm of travel where I live.
  • 4 1
you do realize carbon can be made much stronger, stiffer, and lighter than any aluminum? carbon may have been sketchy when it first came out. but its pretty reliable now and has a lot of new advanced technology now.
  • 1 1
There's more important things that strong stiff and light:

I have two barely scratched Easton Monkey Lites up for trade - you take the bars and I'll take your front teeth, your ability to walk and a fractured skull. Caveat emptor, baby!

what is the weight of this bike?

I tested one just two weeks for an hour or so on the mountains here on the North Shore and I was completely blown away. Then my friend just got his Pivot Mach 4 and had it build up with average parts weighting in at 24.6lb and that changed the way I felt about the Remedy after i got to try it out.

Now it looks like I will be getting a Pivot as soon as possible.

www.pivotcycles.com/mach4.php

and some reviews of the Mach 4, which I did not believe until i took the bike for a ride

Still love the Trek

Eehm, how can you compare a 150mm, 68degree head tube 'light all-mountain bike' to a 100mm, 71 degree head tube XC bike? Off course the XC bike can be built lighter, but is it really the same kind of bike to make that comparison? It sounds a bit apples and oranges to me. Not trying to get you to buy a Remedy though, just saying Wink .

Seriously, I would break that glorified road bike in a matter of minutes. Ridiculous. The Trek Remedy is a real bike that can be ridden hard. The Pivot is a joke to me. I guess it would be sweet if you only rode uphill!
  • 1 0
Good argument there Tet, with the luck of substance in your comment I sense you definitely have never tried one... and yes Faab you're right can't compare apples to oranges, so my bad. The trek is truly an amazing bike for its class.
  • 1 0
Yes, my luck of substance is strong my friend. And no, I have never tried one, nor will I ever try a bike that weighs 25 lbs, and has less than 5 inches of travel. Which is why I have an issue with you trying to promote a bike that has nothing in common with the Trek Remedy in this article.
  • 1 0
At least we agree on one thing... lack of substance. I am not promoting anything, just stating something which excited me...

Sorry, I can get a little aggro on here sometimes. To each his own. The pivot may be perfect for you, don't let me discourage you. People read through these forums, and take advice from people they don't even know. When I saw your post, I thought to myself: I've never heard of this Pivot Mach 4, but this guy says it is way better than a Remedy, I better go to the Pivot site and check this thing out. Then when I looked up that bike, I realized it was not at all something I would be interested in, and I had wasted my time looking it up. Then I posted an inflammatory comment towards you on here.

i own a 2009 trek remedy. i think i will never buy another bike as long as i live (unless i find something i like more; ie. 2010 trek scratch) but the remedy is better for the area i live in, the closest downhill park is several hours away. but a questions raises my brow. for that model year the bike is spec'd with the fox DRCV shock, is there much of a differance in the way the rear susp. moves/reacts/rides? i know that the rider is sponsered by Sram so thats why those parts are on the bike, but what i want to know is would schnell rather have the drcv?
  • 1 0
i agree - i've heard much from riders that the fox equipment is other-worldly.

Fun Fact: "Schnell" is german for fast. Good Name for a racer, almost as good as Nick Beer Big Grin
  • 1 0
i've always thought those were good racers' names, too
  • 3 0
the things i would do for that bike...
  • 2 0
What an excellent surname for a biker! Big Grin
(for those who don't know much German - it means "fast" in German)
  • 1 1
yes just remember these war movies with soldiers screaming at the prisoners, and imagine that behind your back on a race! SHNELLA! Aut ouv my weeey, you zlow Amerikana!
  • 1 0
lmao sick i thought it meant "hurry" though
  • 2 0
sorry but that brown colour is grim.
  • 2 0
 he's using a 40 tooth chainring?!
  • 2 0
Definately not for the average rider... But, the course has a ton of flat-out speed traps and if you can pedal those, it makes up time.
  • 1 0
yea there were guys doing the Downieville climb on 38 tooth front rings.. some people are just insain like that..
  • 8 0
Guys like Rene Wildhaber, and surely this guy too have arteries wider than their fork legs, hearts like bulls, dynamite legs, and backs of steel. They can make use of that!
  • 1 0
adam craig did d ville on a 40 tooth!
  • 1 0
did he really? I kinda thought he did but didnt want to be wrong.. thats just crazy..
  • 6 5
The paintless finish on the fork must be how they shave that extra weight off.
  • 1 0
what actually is is super D? i keep seing it mentioned, but no idea what is is.. like small bike DH?
  • 2 1
it's a bike race performed whilst listening to ben folds
  • 1 0
it's a race format where you race a climbing course and a downhill course on the same bike. sometimes the climbing and the downhill are integrated into the same course like in this race. the difference between a super d race and a xc race is that a super d race usually has less climbing and more aggressive downhills.
  • 1 0
haha. in german "Schnell" means "fast". perfect name i would say!!! ride on!
  • 1 0
Wonder how much this thing weighs...
  • 2 0
wouldn't be surprised if its like 28lbs.
  • 2 0
easily 28 pounds. that's probably in the 23-26 pound range

I NEED A REMEDY................god these bikes are sweet. I dont know If I can take it anymore, Im gonna go max out my credit card.
  • 2 1
baaah... pick up some more cash and buy a Santa Cruz Blur LT or Nomad Smile
  • 1 1
bLUR lt........another amazing rig, you do have good taste Waki!
  • 1 0
Rode both the Remedy and the Blur LT. Even though the cost greatly favored the Trek I took the Blur LT. Amazing bike but you can probably get a substantially better component build on the Trek for the price.
  • 1 0
See, I wish you could buy the Remedy as a frame only. You can get the Carbon one frame only, but thats not what I want- $$$. Im actually looking hard at the Blur or Nomad.
  • 1 0
If I only had the money I would change my bike to Blur LT2. Remedy lies exactly between my bike and Blur LT in terms of usage and riding characteristics I guess. By the time I will fill in the budget to get BLT2, SC will probably already release BLT3 Big Grin ehh. must be a damn good charging cheetah so well, I'm jelaous Iberian Big Grin
