Jun 1, 2017
by Pinkbike Staff

With the release of his new film 'Deathgrip' and the Fort William World Cup coming up this weekend we're giving you the chance to ask Brendog anything about, well anything. He'll be live on Facebook to answer your questions so get them ready and tune in on Facebook later today. Have any burning questions for Brendog? Tune in from 5:00 PM BST, as Brendan Fairclough will be live on the Pinkbike Facebook page to answer all of your questions.

How ‘Ask Me Anything' Works:

Starting at 17:00 PM BST Brendan will begin to answer your questions below this article. Join us live on Facebook as he has a crack at answering them. Everyone who posts a question, large or small, will be taken seriously. To make the process as efficient as possible, try to follow these simple guidelines:

Keep your questions relevant.

Stay focused. Try to keep your questions on one topic if possible. You can always ask about another item later.

• Try to keep your questions to about 100 words.

Ask Us Anything is a service to PB readers who are seeking helpful information, not a forum to broadcast opinions or grievances. If you do have a negative issue that you want to ask about, no worries, just keep your complaints relevant and in the context of a question so that it can be addressed in a productive manner.

Use propping to acknowledge good—or not so good—questions. Bump them up or down to where they belong.

Brendog, please clarify for the world. How would you like your last name pronounced?
  • 4 0
Brendog, is it true that you haven't seen your last name since you flipped that canyon gap at rampage?

@kieran95: yeah, i have heard him in an interview introducing himself that way so that's it

Is there any truth in the rumours that Claudio is all foreskin and barely any shaft?

Are the world cup tracks tough enough?
  • 24 1
Josh Bryceland has successfully left racing behind and forged a video based career on having fun on bikes and messing around. As someone who races and makes films, which do you prefer and are you at all jealous? Is racing too much fun for you to leave behind? Given your strong fan base do you intend to create more Freeride/race style films?

All the best for the future and good luck this season!

I'm going to guess that Brendog has spent more time thinking about mortgages and the future. I bet Miami Bryce has taken a fucking massive pay cut this year. Astronomical pay cut. I bet you.
  • 18 3
Downvote me all you want, but nobody is getting PAID dicking about with their mates making youtube videos instead of winning the world cup overall.
  • 4 0
@jaame: There are a few guys I won't name that never had or have a chance to win the overall and who get paid more than serious contenders for a single reason: image.
That's why some brands prefer to invest on big names with a huge image though zero chance to win than try to get a good contender with no specific image. Impact is assured in the first case. In the second case, only if he wins, and as far as I remember, there's only one winner in the end.
  • 7 1
@jaame: Maybe, just maybe he doesn't give a f*ck about money.Good on you Josh,i for one love what your doing.Keep it up.

You are talking about Matt Hunter right.
  • 13 3
 Yo Brendog,
Do you want to just let the PB community answer your questions for you? You know, since they're already doing it.
  • 26 1
If you were actually a dog, what kind of dog do you think you'd be?
  • 14 0
Mr brendog, will we see your own tv series like Brandon's life behind bars.
  • 11 1
Question for my all time favorite mountain biker:

What's it like living the dream and if you weren't a pro rider what type of career do you think you'd be doing now?

DEATHGRIP IN 4K WAS SO DAMN RAD!!!
  • 10 0
That time at Lourdes when you crossed the line and couldn't hold on, it was funny as shit. Were you amused, embarrassed or just relieved to get across the line?
  • 12 1
How long was the final gap of the movie in Utah?
  • 7 0
 THAT SCHLADMING SEGMENT!!!
seeing that and riding there myself 1 week ago (and a lot the last 3 years), it's unreal how you guys flow on those gnarly trails, absolutely loved the atmosphere and the stoke!

What do you think needs to be done to bring tracks like this ( true rough/on the edge gnarly like champery, Meribel, Maribor and so on) back to the circuit?
Besides the obvious UCI hurdles. Especially seeing that the bikepark #notschladming is even less techy this year than ever before..

Loved the movie, congratulations on that project and making everyone get on their bikes asap! Smile

Brendan, have you ever had an injury/race result/season that made you secretly feel like throwing in the towel for even a fraction of a second? If so, ( this is the real question actually) how did you fight through it? What are your mental and emotional tools for for staying motivated and focused?

Thanks man, good luck on Sunday. I'd love to see you win and hear Claudio lose it in the booth
  • 8 1
Describe your training regimen? Also, how did you make Deathgrip so f*ckin awesome?
  • 6 0
If everyone is jumping on the bandwagon, can we expect to see you on a 29er Gambler this weekend (or at any point in the season) and Clipped in?

Cheers!
  • 2 1
Forget about clips, there are close to zero riders who got faster after making the switch. The only exception I can remember lately was Steve Smith, and it took a few years to see the results which makes it impossible to say it's because he switched to clips. Stay on flats Brendan!
  • 5 1
world cups? are they getting less tech? we've read roumers of redbull wanting to straighten out tracks for better tv coverage and now 29'ers are on the horizon. whats your view, would you like to see more tech or more speed? Or Both Smile
  • 3 0
You've got to run out to a mates, you riding the beamer, or taking that rad van? Haha keep killing it bren! You and ollys IG storys are always the best hahaha Was super rad meeting you at Windham 2015!! Make sure you keep Needles fast and stylish in his retirement!

As professional rider, you get to ride in many places around the world. But is there any spot on your bucket list where you haven't been and where you would really like to go to?
  • 3 0
Is there a time in your life where you personally think you were the 'steeziest'?
I've watched deathgrip 3 times already and I'd say its the best riding I've ever seen you do. I'd also argue that back in the specialized days when you and sam were on the red/black demos before the redesign, you were saucin the hardest then... so in your personal opinion, when was the pinnacle of steeze/ bold hucking. Or do you see yourself just getting more and more creative on a bike?
  • 3 0
What has been the best or biggest highlight in your career/lifetime to this date?
What helps you keep motivated to push yourself?
Any struggles or barriers that you have had to succumb?
  • 4 0
Brendog, what`s your take on being a so called freeracer and the path that Ratboy has taken, is it something you would consider?
  • 2 0
You said in your Vital podcast you were still hungry to win despite some relatively mediocre results the past few years. What steps can a top racer, like yourself, take to push themselves on to the podium? We saw Danny Hart do it last year and he seems on form to challenge for the title again this year. It seems you have the natural talent but what's missing from the formula and how will you find it?
  • 5 1
How much can you bench press? What's your favourite food and how is Nigel doing?
  • 3 0
Which is your favorite scene from DeathGrip ? How long did it take you to film the whole project ? Would you consider going 29er this year ?
  • 3 0
Hello! I saw a quite cool picture of your scott spark with cut down mudtires. How is it set up and is it your go-to bike for regular trail riding?

how often does @buckow try to sneak in your bed naked like a glowing worm while you're asleep?

The question everyone wants to know. Will Deathgrip be on blu-ray or have any sort of physical copy release?
  • 6 1
Blockbuster will be stocking VHS copies soon. Betamax will take another few weeks.
  • 2 0
@bigtim: I think you would have more up votes if people knew what VHS and betamax were, let alone Blockbuster. Showing your age there sir. On a side note. I hear West Coast Video is considering re-opening their doors.
  • 5 0
Would you rather be a deer or water buffalo and why?
  • 3 0
deer is clearly better. more agile
  • 2 0
When it comes to squats and deadlifts in the gym, how many reps and sets do you do?
Also, how do you distribute your time spent in the gym, on the road bike and on the big bike throughout a typical training week?
Thanks
  • 1 0
It depends if you want tone, strength, and or bulk..

Tone: 4sets 25reps (whatever weight it might be)
Strength: 4sets 15-25reps
Bulk: 2-4sets and either 8-10reps.

Going to failure is ok, but it will make your muscles tired and just drain you.

Gym depends on what you are doing in your routine. Each day should be a different routine and maybe take 1hr-2.5hrs. Anymore time (in my eyes) is just too much and you may as well live there to A) try and pick up ladies or B) become a body builder.

Time on the bikes would just be ride what you feel maybe? You want to work on endurance and conditioning...then road bike, want to work on flow and movement, go either big bike or urban/skate park riding.
  • 1 0
 hi.
does it suck to answer questions like, can.you show.me.how to whip or how much can you lift on a benchpress?
just keep riding as you always do. thats good enogh for me.
all the best for the ongoing season and for anything you plan in the future. ride on sir, ride on.
  • 3 0
Not a question, just wanna say I think you're one of the best riders out there. You have always stuck me as a genuine dude too. Can't wait to see you on the podium this year!
  • 4 0
Can you and Ratboy live commentate while Claudio and Warner do a coarse preview and heckle the shit out of them? Please!!!
  • 1 0
 Yeah but with subtitles
  • 1 0
Great film!!! Great seeing it on the big screen at the SOC!!!

Question: Why do you ride a BMW with the ungainly flat-twin when the mighty Norton Commando V-Twin is native to the Isles?

P.S. I don't really care - just wanted to say howdy and that's all I could think of.
