Aston Hill Race

Sunday 7th September saw the race circuit return to Aston Hill. For the first time event planners were considering mixing things up, with a race combining all of Aston Hills highly regarded DH runs. As Friday rolled around it was finally time to tape off the new sections, and unveil exactly what the guys had in mind when they said it would be a mash up race.

Everyone had their own ideas about how the tracks could be linked together, but I don’t think anyone would have anticipated what they found. Loose, off camber and loamy were just a few of the Chinese whispers going around the car park on the morning of practice. Things were going to get interesting! It seems that with all these events, getting started can be the hardest part. Once the confusion about number boards was cleared up, seeding began. With this track being so different from anything ever raced on the hill before no one knew what times we could expect from the riders.

Thank you to all the sponsors involved: Madison, Lovelo Cycle Works, Supernova Cycles, Tring Brewery, Leisure Lakes Bikes, Daventry Walton Street Cycles, Squirt Lube, ANVL Components, Flare Clothing Company, Bell Bike Helmets, Mountain Mania Cycles, VW Vintage catering for the smoothies & Quality Catering for the fine burgers!
