More races throughout the country and Reverse Components as the main sponsor. It's really globally a unique thing: a downhill series, completely held on snow as riding surface. The Reverse Components schneefräsn grows bigger in 2018, bringing drift fun on slopes to six locations in Austria.

Biking in winter has a special relish to it. Skiers twisting their heads in disbelief. Grip varies greatly. The back wheel is on its own mission, swerving left and right. Drifts are omnipresent. And if the tires swerve off, all that happens is a soggy bottom.

From the middle of January to the middle of March you can share this special feeling of riding on snow with similar minded people at the Reverse Components schneefräsn.

The only snow downhill series in the world stops in six locations in 2018, and they could not be any different. It's kicking off with a dual slalom under floodlight in Lower Austria. For the final showdown, Saalbach Hinterglemm combines a freeski event with the mountain bike action. In between, Lienz is hosting the hardcore highlight: a real downhill race on the women's world cup ski slope.

Races 2018

13.01. Pistenwexl, Wexl Trails (Lower Austria)
20.01. Ride Hard on Snow, Lienz (Osttyrol)
26.01. SCOTT Snow Downhill Race, Leogang (Salzburg)
03.02. Petzen Bike Trophy, Petzen (Carinthia)
25.02. Bike & Snow, Bikepark Innsbruck (Tyrol)
10.03. GlemmRide meets GlemmBang, Saalbach Hinterglemm (Salzburg)

Everyone is welcome

Fun is the utmost goal of the schneefraesn cup. Everyone who has taken his/her bike on a ski slope knows that it only takes a moment for your cheeks to form a big smile. Formalities are kept sleek by the organizers. There is no need for a license, no need for spike tires either. Just turn up at the race, register and have fun. Participation is for everyone, really. Innsbruck is allowing youngsters from the age of 6 to race.

Reverse Components

This is also the motivation for Reverse Components to support the winter series as the main sponsor. Owner Peter Schmid became aware of schneefräsn through his former team rider Markus Pekoll and was instantly fired up: "The character of the series reflects exactly what biking is for us: fun for everybody! It fits perfectly with our philosophy of 'from riders, for riders' and is another part of our support for the mountain bike sport in all its facets." A quick glance at the near future: the German brand will extend the involvement in Austria beyond the winter season.

schneefräsn

2016 was the birth year of the winter downhill series. Founded by the Austrian mountain bike magazine LINES it consisted of four races. Since then, it grew and grew. High-class athletes like Red Bull rider Fabio Wibmer and the Worldcup racers Andreas Kolb and Markus Pekoll were attracted by the laid-back atmosphere. Young gun Vali Höll and trials rider Florian Lerchbaumer took the overall victories in 2017. 104 riders put a number plate on their bike in the middle of winter. For 2018 all participants can look forward to goodies from Reverse Components. Overall victory will consist of a fine selection of bike parts and will be highly contested.
