CONTEST DETAILS

The contest supports Zwifts movement into the mountain bike world and their creation of both virtual tracks and training programs specific to MTB. Historically, Zwift may have been perceived to be a ‘roadie brand’. Recently though, Zwift has expanded on their commitment to off-road cyclists with a recent game expansion containing a selection of new training plans as well as in-game equipment.

bigquotesI’m delighted to be launching this new partnership with BC Bike Race. I look forward to welcoming in many of the participants signed up for the 2020 event into our online community, and wish them the very best in their preparations.Eric Min, Zwift CEO and Co-Founder

Crush the BC BIKE RACE with ZWIFTS ‘SLAYER TRAINING’ program
Looking for a training program that can assist with your goals of Singletrack success, focus your training and get ready for the 2020 BC Bike Race Sept 27 – Oct 3.
How does one best prepare for seven days of racing across British Columbia’s challenging terrain? The unique demands of singletrack riding often require specific preparation and training. So to really sharpen your fitness and crush the BC Bike Race, join Zwift’s Singletrack Slayer training plan.
A major aspect of singletrack riding is being able to produce power outside your usual comfortable cadence. With rolling hills and sharp corners, riders need to be able to quickly shift from one extreme to another. It’s not always easy. But with proper training, you’ll be well prepared for any trails ahead. Singletrack Slayer asks for one hour of training per day for a full week, over a ten weeks training block, sounds easy right?

Literally can’t wait to try out my UK weather mtb Zwift simulator. Set up in inside a king sized fridge and every 5 mins the mrs opens the door and chucks a bucket of freezing water and horse poo riddled mud all over me.

oh man I laughed at that. I think that's a premium subscription feature. You also have to pour champagne on your own head.

I find I do a lot better on Zwift since I bought my E-bike.

I was excited when i ugraded from a fluid trainer to a wheel on smart trainer..i gained 100 FTP. There has got to be another thing besides and ebike that makes me look better to strangers in a digital world.

The pandemic has given me an opportunity to do what I’ve needed to do for some time—stay off the fun trails and spend many hours upgrading my bike’s motor. The MTB training plans in Zwift have definitely produced results and have broken up the boredom.

Way too easy to cheap on Swift. There's no way half the guys on there are beating the pros but we've never heard of them racing.

speaking from experience its also way too easy to be bad in zwift. Nice to get keep the legs moving when its too cold or rainy out though. Just like any form of biking, its not all about racing.

This is only cool if they actually managed to program the amazing crowd along with it. That said, if it links to the internet and there is a multi-player mode, maybe you can participate as crowd too. Now that would be nice, blasting through my vuvuzela straight into the computer microphone. Should help with social distancing too (even if, to the neighbors, it doesn't feel like it).

All the pro's in Durango are competing for KOM's due to lack of racing - it's been pretty fun and hilarious to follow

Quite a bit of talent in that little town... Wish I still lived there.

It rained all day here so I did my first decent/focused (dumb) trainer session in years. Twenty minutes in I was reminiscing of BCBR 2017 and thinking a redo in 2021 should happen. Hmmmm, Zwift, eh?

True, but to win, you just have to compete, not win the race.

Anyone up for virtual Downhill Domination or even some Saga Genesis Road Rash

Quality Prize, would almost consider doing a turbo session for it (never tried Zwift)

Until a month ago I'd never tried a virtual ride either. Now have a saris H3 and using it with Rouvy (follow movies of the road) once the kids are in bed. Far more engaging than I expected, the effort required on "climbs" is also much harder than the real world so outside seems relatively easier.

Didn't expect to like it!

@Riggbeck: I always had the impression it would be a total faff - setting computers and screens up, cables trailing etc (I don't have somewhere I could set it up permanently).

That and the fact, any turbo sessions leave me sweating buckets, I didn't think I should mix that with electronics!

Would be interested to try it out though.

@Sreyno: Setting it up everyday could be tedious, our guest bedroom is looking quite cramped now, thanks to covid it is not needed for guests anyway.

Connecting to a computer or tablet screen via bluetooth is instant once you have the account. The pain for me is that the cassette on the Saris is a different cable position to the wheel on the bike I use on it, I will probably have to set the gears each time I ride that bike outside.

Strava, rouvy etc need a power meter to work well, there you have cost.

You save time with kit faff, nobody to judge your fashion sense so you just find your oldest shorts, sweat towel and pedal.
