The first annual Kamloops Tournament Capital Games was a huge hit! With racers coming from all over BC and Alberta this homegrown, multi-sport event hosted a different kind mountain bike race, one focused on participation, exploration, and encouragement. The Tournament Capital Games had many sports in this new event including; Pickle Ball, Swimming, Soccer, and Women's Hockey—just to name a few. Thanks to the Bicycle Cafe Kamloops, The Dirt Chix, Liv Giant, the KPCC and all the volunteers!
The weekend's event featured an XC and Enduro for only $50 (that's two events for $50, what a steal!). Saturday was the XC and on Sunday, we got our party on with the Enduro.
The cross country event was hosted in the city’s
Kenna Cartwright Park on Saturday, featuring a brilliant course designed by
Cheryl of the Bicycle Cafe, it was designed for
maximum fun level's, keeping the double track for recovery, and the singletrack for partying!!!

Sunday, across the highway from Kenna Cartwright, the
Pineview trail network, Kamloops' favourite singletrack network, welcomed its first-ever mountain bike race in the network. Big thanks to the KPCC for prepping the trails and working with the landowners to welcome this crew of riders to a true local gem. The course was laid out by Enduro shredders @HellyBroRacing and featured three icon Kamloops Trails: Stubby's, A Blaze on the Hillside (thanks Wayne!) and Mike's.
You can recreate the course here.On Thursday before the race, The Dirt Chix (Kamloops Women's only biking group), hosted a group ride to tackle some fears, learn new skills and become acquainted with the trails. It was a huge success and many 'non-racers' stepped up to the challenge. You can
read a really interesting note from
The Dirt Chix leader, Dana Heyman. Dana and Cheryl wanted to encourage a laid back atmosphere, so they got Liv Giant onboard to come out with the Liv Lounge, for all the riders to ease those 'never raced before' jitters!
The Tournament Capital Games are committed to creating a sustainable event experience for our community. The TCG also is committed to enabling athletes, officials, and spectators to practice waste reduction, water, and energy efficiency, and use eco-friendly transportation whenever possible.
For this event over $800 were raised for the Pineview Trail Network, while the BC Enduro Series donate the timing and course materials.
