The COMMENCAL Vallnord Enduro Team made up of Cedric and Cecile Ravanel and Nico Quere, were in Whistler to take part in the SRAM Canadian Open Enduro World Series round as well as a Crankworx event or two.
It’s legendary, it's magical, it's the Mecca of mountain biking and there’s one time of year when there’s so much going on it’s difficult to think of anything else but. Crankworx, EWS, Redbull Joyride, what more could a mountain biker want? Oh yeah… A good party every night!
Cecile Ravanel won this race last year so it’s fair to say that she had high hopes and increased pressure coming into this year’s stage. The battle was hard fought between Cecile and Tracy Moseley with the times going back and forth after each stage. Eventually though, Tracey came through with the win and Cecile ended up 2nd this time. She’s a strong 2nd in the overall standings too behind Tracey and in front of Anneke Beerten, with just 2 rounds remaining.
Nico Quere sure made the most of his time in Whistler, stomping A-Line everyday in his signature style. The trails of the Canadian Open Enduro suited him more than in previous rounds and as a result he achieved his best result so far since the beginning of his time in the competition, finishing 15th.
Cecile Ravanel finished off her 2015 Crankworx with The Ultimate Pumptrack Challenge. No pedal strokes allowed, some contrast to her enduro race just a couple of days earlier. Lack of juice left from said competition meant that she was eliminated in the eighth-finals.
