I just want to say that this teams emphasis and focus on developing Aimi and Leona this year made me SO much more invested in the women's results and streams during the world cup. I am 100% guilty of not paying much attention in the past and I am ashamed of that. PBR got me super into it and I was always tuning into the results and women's streams. But beyond that, I learned about so many OTHER women riders that I became invested in as well. This is the kind of development the sport needs. Ben / the whole team should be so proud of the efforts they put into not only their racers, and their development, but also in pushing the development of the sport as a whole.

I wish I could write that better. Both women's and men's categories were insanely entertaining this year, and I found myself getting even more excited to see where Aimi was finishing than I was about the elite riders. Thanks PBR. Let's hope Discovery can find a way to push the sport, rather than the other way around.

agreed with the above,PB,Cathro, the riders and the sponsors all came out of this with huge credibility.

Would be SO good to see some footage of the juniors.

Even if only the top 10, or top 5. Some of them (men and women) are doing great things in the juniors and the only footage we see is the occasional POV or snippets of team footage.

Hands down the best content on Pinkbike. Hell yes!

Even in his own personal spotlight video for the year, Ben wants to highlight another young up and coming rider from the team instead of himself. Truly is the hardest working man in show business.

The Pinkbike team brought DH racing to the masses. For those of us who watch and follow DH racing, it's hard to see what the whole process is like and what happens on the inside. This has been an incredible window into the DH world. To top it all off Ben Cathro has been amazing and hopefully more next year. There's more next year right..... RIGHT...

Pinkbike should judge the quality based on the lack of comments. PBA episode comes out, 300+ comments saying how shit it is. PBR episode released, not even 50 comments cuz everyone watches then goes and cries cuz its soooooo good. No comments necessary.

Why are you making me cry. Please do more of this. Hands down the best content that's out there about the world cups and well worth waiting for.

 Seriously, I'm a puddle rn...

Please, please, please make Pinkbike Racing a thing in 2023 as well!! I hope the team Leona is on _is_ Pinkbike Racing!

Man, I sure do hope Outside is paying Ben well! It seems he has so much on his plate and does it all with pure stoke and grace. Absolute legend and top notch series/content done by the team. Take notes PBA!

Get that fucking girl a goddam mother-F'ing contract! And stop cutting so many goddam onions!!
  • 7 0
Emotional episode that. Brilliant. From episode one's opening salvo, Ben explaining downhill, to the Leona's news for 2023 at the closing of the last this has been one of the best series I've seen, certainly on sport. Pinkbike, thank you for PB Racing, the series and what it gave the riders, the sport needs it.

I would love to hear from more of the Pinkbike staffers.. I'm curious if they love this series as much as the rest of us? Do you guys realize how good you did in creating this series and supporting these people?
  • 3 0
I'd love to @mikelevy to get the team / some of the team on the podcast. Although, really, I like them on Downtime or Making Up The Numbers. Would love to hear more from the non-rider team members too.

For sure, we’re all very stoked about what the team has created. I don’t watch many bi me videos anymore, but I don’t miss any PBRs - I’m biased but f*ck me they are so good!

We’ve had Ben on a few times and will definitely do more!

Thanks for the vid, Pinkbike. And Ben..., thanks for making this the first season that I've been genuinely interested in the blow by blow. Not just because the riding was epic - but mostly because you made the whole season a human endeavor, undertaken by real people, who try, fail, learn, and have a great time with the process, whether they win or not.

You made it real. With what seemed like an ever-present smile - you brought it to a level where all of us recreational riders & always-gremmie racers can relate on a level that we understand your struggles and your achievements.

I mean - like virtually everybody else who has an opportunity to imagine ourselves as race-worthy riders, but know with absolute certainty that we are NOT - you had a job to do. And..., you had a job to do! And regardless of our dreams - the job for which we're selfishly accountable only to ourselves, will (and must) take a back seat to the one with which we're accountable to others. Accountable to the team. Accountable to each individual on the team. And accountable in a personal & human way with genuine interest & concern for the performance & success of others.

Leadership is grueling. The rules are so broad, as to still leave it entirely up to you, to experiment, fail, learn, adjust, and try again. And again, and again and again. And still come with a smile and a healthy perspective on the emotional rollercoaster to success. From what I saw from my cozy armchair & imagined when laying in a muddy puddle 20 feet off the trail - you kicked it, Ben. Job(s) well done. Thanks for letting us come along forr the ride.

This is some of the best content that Pinkbike has ever created tbh. Real people, real stories, real emotions. I'll buy PBR merch if it means this series can continue. Huge thanks to Cathro, and his wife and kid for letting him invest in this, Max and team for putting heart into this series, and everyone else involved. It is evident through the videos that you all really care about the people and the sport. That can't be faked. Ben, thanks for the encouragement to invest in something greater than yourself. Can't wait to see more.

Well done Ben, you made the World cup season better, hope you can make it happen again next year?

More of this next year, PLEASE!

Again, massive props to everyone involved! This show is out-standing. And Ben of course seem not to be only base of the cake but the topping as well. Thank you!

Please please please let there be PBR in '23!! The whole series was so genuine and like honest and heartfelt, it's just too good. I wish you all the best, Team!

Ben and the Crew/Team, well done! you had vision and sail it to glory , I truly enjoyed the insights, races and results . Kudos to your camera crew and archives for putting it like it is .

This series has been nothing short of amazing storytelling.

Really hoping they get to follow up next year. but I guess, Cathro himself doesn't even know if he'll be able to run this development team next year as it would depend on the entry fee demanded by ESO and the potential numerus clausus. Or the fact that there's even a junior WC series next year... Still, it would be awesome to follow the progress of Aimy as she will quite logically be one of the contender for the WC overall title! Jackson is supposed to graduate to senior but did he do enough to get a ride? Has Thibault done enough to get another year? Has Cathro, the man himself, got it in him to train all winter like a maniac to crack a top fifteen next season or will he decide to stick to team manager/rider coach?

I'm supersight for Leona to get a fullride for next year. What the series showed was the difference between being a privateer and a fully or partially supported means to a rider and his development, the emotion on Leona's face, she was trying so hard to keep it together.

Huge Kudos to everybody at the Sleeper collective for burning the midnight oil during the season.

Would’ve loved to see an episode with Thibault at Hardline.

Fantastic series, though. Well done.

Really hope to see more of this next year. The entire team worked so hard to this year both on track and on the camera, what a great series, stories and production quality.

By far the best content here because it has genuine human stories. Well done to all.

As much as I love all the content Ben and his team produce a part of me wants to set Ben free to just race WCDH. I want to see how well he could do without the rest of the workload. Ben you can coach and be a team manager for many decades after you retire from racing. No I take that back, we cant live without all your awesome content Smile

Pinkbike for gods sake cancel your version of the real world (pinkbike academy) and give it to PB Racing. I have never seen any content on PB that gets as many positive PB comments as this one. Hell you even made some of them cry (not me, I was just cutting onions) To Ben, all the racers and the production crew job well done!

 So, what's happening for 2023 Pinkbike? @bencathro?
Going all in on the racing?
The team managing?
Been tapped up by Discovery for the commentary?
We wanna know.

Such a good series and it really shows how a supportive environment can help a team to perform. On top of which, you can’t help but like Ben Cathro. He just comes across as a genuinely nice guy.

So so good, can't wait for more of this!

Super dope! Should Ben focus on managing the team only or two way battle between racing and managing for 2023??? (& being a father and a husband)
  • 3 0
Please keep doing all you do. I can watch this kind of content all-day
