The first pic shows him repairing a rut.

It's like asking who's going to sweep the car porch.

Parkbuilder- "Watch Tyler as he assaults his top secret slalom course..."

I'm no scientist but I'm assuming the one who repairs the trail after this edit are the taxpayers.
  • 242 3
If you can believe it...Tyler built and maintains this full slalom course himself. Most people may not know, but Tyler is one of the main diggers in California that has had a hand in most major known trails there, DJ spots, and spends more time with a shovel than on a bike. One of the hardest working dudes we know.

 Dream berms
  • 2 0
I am pretty sure that there was an edit by GT, which had T-Mac and Strait riding this trail when it was more of a dual slalom thing. Nonetheless, it's amazing how Tyler has made this trail even better.
  • 26 0
Clay Porter should have been the digger. Because, y'know, his name.
  • 2 1
Why are those berms so tall?
There's like 10 hours extra work each to make them so durn beautiful.
Sometimes "because" is the only answer...
Can you imagine your trail with that much time put into it?
Damn.
  • 15 4
@scott-townes, You obviously have no idea how trail building works in Northern California. Trails like that are built by riders, for a very few selected riders, and kept top secret. If anyone under CA taxpayer funding laid a hand on those beautiful berms it would be to tear them down, not maintain them.
  • 9 1
I think they actually used those pedals to help dig the trail...

LTmtb- You and apparently other PB users obviously have no idea when someone is completely joking... Yes, I really think the taxpayers pay for the maintenance on his private and secret trail, hahaha

@scott-townes there there. I thought the satire was palpable

Amazing edit. Love that slo-mo shot, and the berm destroying no matter how much shit I get for sayin it.

I hate to sound like my girlfriend but I'm loving the colour- Don't quite understand all the fuss about a pair of pedals but if it means we get to watch TMac shred then let's keep the hype going!!!
  • 8 0
that was dope! loved the shaky camera moves—really added energy to the edit in a cool way
  • 2 0
Yeah I loved that. Gave it a kinda horror movie vibe. Pretty intense vid.
  • 1 0
Agreed...as well as the slo-mo. A little bit of everything. That shaky part almost gave it a sped up look, cool.
  • 8 0
So much speed when cornering, impressive !
@richrichington you suck

Good to see he took a spade with him, riding like a proper hooligan! Such a shame he injured himself at Rampage, would of loved to see him shred his line there.

GT Distortion was a 2013 model, not sure if this one is updated to 2015 specs but ... rock'n the berms on 26" pretty tight to be rolling on much more
  • 1 0
I have one of the previous models, with the i-drive suspension. Works fairly well as a beefy trail bike with the dropper post, but it's much better off in the bike park on jump trails. I have a 160mm lyrik on mine. www.pinkbike.com/photo/12841152

The new version of the distortion is the bike Tmac is on. Hasn't been released for sale in the states as of yet, unfortunately. Because it looks amazing.
  • 1 0
dope bike @martis I have a 2012 and the thing rips. I ride technical dh on it (not full speed), took it on an epic all mtn trip to peru, and hit dirt jumps on it as well. most versatile bike I've ever owned.

instagram.com/p/oQl9gHjuQK/?taken-by=samsheline
only thing that's changed is I put ESI grips on mine, too!
  • 1 0
@steezysam thing looks great! Did you paint yours black or did it come painted that way? I spent at least 20 hours stripping my bike's godawful orange paint off. Looks much better raw. But yeah, GT knocked it out of the park with this thing. If I had to only have one bike, this would probably be it. I've ridden DH on it, full-blown XC suckfests, the indoor park, dirt jumps... whatever. It generally works fairly well for everything I throw at it. Dropper post and eggbeaters = XC bike, Stubby post and flats = DH mode. I tend to favor my rigid 29er for XC and my Session 88 for DH, though... so unfortunately, it doesn't get ridden as often as it probably deserves to.
  • 1 0
@martis it was Andrew Cho's factory frame so it came to him black with little orange and blue highlights. I love the color, but yours looks sweet raw as well.

And yeah it's my only "trail" bike so I ride it a lot. I recently got a Spec Status, so the Distortion won't see as many DH trips, but honestly it's the perfect amount of bike for some of the smaller and smoother ski hills here on the east coast.
  • 2 0
My last trip to snowshoe resulted in a smashed derailleur on my session, so I pulled the distortion off the roof. Spent the rest of the day slaying the jump trails. It's my backup DH rig, and is a whole different kind of fun. My only real beef is that it climbs like the 33 pound pig that it is.
  • 2 0
PUUUUUR FECT. No joking around, that was rippin fast. And solid. Wondering about lightly packed dirt or something, but they I slapped myself. Who cares, Tmac is stupid good at riding, and slayed it.
  • 2 0
Yepp. Im buliding berms next summer and buying some ped's from Diety. And T, with that spray you can paint my ride anytime. Dayum.
  • 1 0
 Want some help?
  • 1 0
Moore diggers, bigger berms! So yeah!
  • 1 1

Anyone else notice that he's riding what is called a GT Distortion? Looks quite nice. New short travel park frame?
  • 1 0
I think he has been riding it at comps for some time now.
  • 1 0
Not seen it for sale in the UK....might be US only? (or a prototype maybe?)

Either way, looks real nice
  • 2 1
i think a lot of these lope bikes never make it to commercial sales. think yt etc
  • 1 0
Premiered at Sea Otter in 2014. Don't feel bad that you didn't know much about this bike... I worked for GT at the time and never saw/heard anything about this. Also, it's not for sale in the US currently. Can't say much about UK/elsewhere.
  • 1 0
The bike is the same as Kyle Strait's prototype Distortion that was at Sea Otter Classic. I have a 2013 Distortion but am super interested to hear if they are making a new one. Might just be for Factory Team riders? Here's mine. instagram.com/p/58zRy0maX-/?taken-by=benpaliwoda

I worked for GT at the time of the release. Really wanted to get my hands on one myself, but the response as to whether any would be made was basically ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  • 3 1
That rear tire must have about one thousand PSI to stay on the rim after that abuse
  • 1 0
What kind of rear tire is that anyway?
  • 3 0
looks like a maxxis Larsen tt to me
  • 3 0
That's the real way to make it rain dirt
