 These dropouts were 100% the deal breaker for me a couple years ago when I was buying a bike. I loved everything else about it, but I couldn’t get past that.

 Rockshox biggest fail this year was not bringing out the new Boxxer in the 20th anniversary OG 1998 Boxxer pro replica aka their best design ever.

 The fact that I've ordered myself a set of 1997 Judy SL stickers for my Lyrik just three weeks ago, makes me feel a bit good about myself, especially after this. But truth be told, I am rocking 1998 SID stickers on my Pike 454 that takes care of my Jackal since 5 years now...

@heavyp I feel you dude! RockShox graphics these days are so boring that one falls asleep just looking at them. The mid to late 90's had the best schemes ever, especially 1997 and 1998, with black and cream as main bases for the Indy and Judy line plus the differently colored cores: black, red, blue, silver, yellow. Some brands, like Bontrager, had special stickers which were color-matched to their frames. But I will go one step further and say that Peter Kaiser missed the opportunity to make a throwback at a fork that was about a million times more fascinating than the standard Judy SL: the factory-only slalom-special Judy DS in red with blue core. Now THAT would've been really cool!

 @pierson100: I wouldn’t argue that it is more secure bolts over welds. The triangular joint that is welded is likely stronger.

 i still remember crying a bit wheni snapped the brace on my SL‘s, seeing that colour being sent over the booters today i need a set again, not want, or even use to any degree,even black stantions to mimic the rubber booties. We want these now RS.

 @l0key: I punched a hole through the lowers in my 96 Judy SL halfway through a 50km race. Rode it home no worries. Replacing one lower leg still wasn't cheap.

 its the 97/98 colour. you're right though and in 1999 they went to total crap! those were horrid

 @makripper: the ‘97 Judy looked ace but was utter piss to actually ride. Horrible things. The Z1’s I replaced them with were from another planet.

 @mindmap3: oh man those were so sick! 80mm of plush useable travel. Heavier but well worth it

 If you were around in the Mid 90s you would understand that the only colour more iconic than Judy yellow was Purple Ano!

 That hydro gyro is brilliant but it shows how slowly improvements are happening on dirt bikes as that is still a prototype.

 @makripper: I too had a bike with the Indy SL in '98! I think the only big difference with the SL compared to C was the SL had an aluminum steerer, coated stancions and bling top caps, but otherwise was the same internals. The preload on those forks was a joke...only compressed the spring a fraction of an inch and didn't do anything to change sag. The S model Indy from same year in '98 still rocked old school elastomers. I can't believe RockShox got away with that design for so long... They continued it with the Jett fork after too.

‘97 Judy XC’s were my first forks. They were like a nerf gun on the front of your bike because if you landed a jump or a drop heavily enough, the spring and elastomer would shoot out of the top! The top caps were bloody plastic. I had some RST Mozo Pro 4.5’s too. They were the days.

 @mindmap3: +1 for RST, hope they’re still just using 3 elastomers and a spring for internals!

 I had the yellow and black Quadra 21R that was full elastomer. Those were even more terrible.
