Jackson Goldstone, dad Ron and Rob Dunnet getting ready in the parking lot. Jackson is one of the most recognizable people under 4 feet tall in Whistler.

The brave Shay Johnson looks nervous being the first in front of my lens. Hopefully she was feeling more confident on the trail and her Norco Aurum.

Steve Healey with his Norco Aurum and Kelly Ness on his Kona Process weathered the long ferry lines from Nanaimo to ride this weekend. Guess the hand sign is an inside Island thing?

Nick Vail riding his freshly painted classic Cove Shocker. Every local photographer knows this guy. And if you don't, you are getting your gear from the wrong place.

Back yet again this year is Vin Quenneville sporting a blacked out Canfield Jedi. Loving the BOS fork and his Double Barrel. A bit more subdued from last years paint job.
Seen here

Allix Duncan Grant keeping the beast alive. This 99 Balfa BB7 always reminds me of WWII Russian military engineering, with all the steel beams and whatever parts where left over from the test missiles. Might be why it just wont give up.

The faceless rider! No, its just Jake Chapin up from West Vancouver. Guess he was having a bad hair day? Well his Tr450 was looking damn good for the both of them.

Local bike tech from Summit Sport, Christian Stalder got a free moment between servicing everyone else's rigs to get in a few laps. He's sporting a lovely black Rocky Flatline with some fresh 40s on the front.

Alan Golds taking a break from his Pinkbike desk to do some much needed public relations.

Jackson waiting in line like the rest.

Pascale Vaiani and her well ridden Giant Glory. A muddy bike is a happy bike! Hope I got the picture right for you. (She made me retake it a few times)

The Man himself Jason Louden. Look at this fine specimen in all his glory! With his pride and joy. A Jedi from Canfield Bros. with the extra shiny X-Fusion fork. Where do I get a sweet lid with a giant Pinkbike logo on it?

A couple of little dudes riding some sweet little bike from Lil Shredder. I didn't get their names, they didn't talk much. Just highfives. But I'm sure we will be seeing these guys in videos soon enough.

Leanne Tompkins, sporting a raw Rocky Mountain Flatline. I put her in here to get more views... That might be a joke? Not like she wasn't out there killing it. Give a guy a break!

Double Capt Morgan! Oh wait its Trev Berg Whistler Bike Park team member and trail builder extraordinaire on the ever so bright Giant Glory. And local filmer for Summer of Summit and bike mechanic for Summit Sport Dylan Forbes on his matte black rocky Flatline with a lot of red parts. Maybe because hes a ginger?

Chris Canfield rocking a... you guessed it Canfield Bros! His Jedi is kitted with some swanky new DVO suspension front and rear.

Always time from some Jackson/Louden dreads!

Equally impressive hair is Jill Anderson on a Devinci Frantic. So the bike does match the hair!

Some people just didn't want to share their sweet new rides. But there is a fancy new Aurum back there. Guessing its a prototype and I might get in trouble. Good thing my name isn't posted right on the picture or anything...

Dominique Noreau on her shiny new Specialized Demo8 and friend Carolyn Kavanagh on her slightly old but still nice Devinci Wilson.

Thumbs up for gettin muddy in the bike park on opening weekend! David Karg rocking a sweet litle NS Soda, all the way from Bavaria.

And his friends Marten Haganey on his YT Play. Hailing from South Germany.

The lovely blonde Anne Robinsson loving her Giant Glory with matching RockShox suspension front and rear.

Ahhh man again! Maybe Anne can tell us this guys name. I don't have it written down. He was following her around. So for now we shall Call him Mr. Anne Robinson. He might hate me for that but at least he has a nice Giant Glory to cheer him back up.

Intermission, little bit of action while waiting for me people to shoot. Now back to "People and their Bikes".

Rob Dunnet has a cool Polygon and a sweet toque eh!

Do I even need to explain this... Really, he's just being helpful. He would do it for anyone. Really!

The sweetest jacket award goes to... Max Berkowitz and his Norco Aurum. That was one of the best smiles we saw all day!

On the Nukeproof is Fraser Britton. Always fun taking pictures of photographers. Me sitting here typing this out, worried about if I edited it right, maybe I missed something? I bet he'll notice!

This is Celeste Dietan. This her first day out Ever! Well she has a great Rocky Mountain Flatline to smooth out the trails and keep that smile on her face.

Natasha Noel mixing up the colors a bit with the bright green Specialized Demo8 and some flashy TLD gear.

Another first timer! Melissa Elsliger came all he way from Calgary to the opening weekend to get the full sensation of what its like to be a biker. Riding on a nimble Giant Reign.

Lina Englund flexing for the camera with her YT Industries all the way up from Vancouver. Phew! What a long drive that is.

More Giants!!! They seem popular? Maybe Catherine Martel knows why. Or maybe she just likes how hers rides.

Annie Gaudette all the way from the suburbs of Whistler. Must have been like at least a 15min bike ride to the hill. Probably an uphill along the way. Her shinny green Transition TR250 got her here safely. If you haven't figured it out yet. I have the humor of a dad. Terrible.

Jasper Wesselman was just passing through on his way to go filming using his trusty stead, a Santa Cruz Carbon V10. Even the guys behind the lens like to have fun.

Katie Holden on a 2014 Giant Glory. This marks year 13 for Katie in the Whistler Bike Park. All smiles, even with the slightly pedal tenderized shin.

Max Schwaeble all the way from Germany to show off his matching paintjob and outfit. The YT Industries Tues Limited, with matching crowns on his Marzocchi fork and slick Mavic wheels.

Prairie Girls Racing from Edmonton AB. Deanne, Darlene, Jenna, Nicole, Allison, Katie with special guess Jason. These girls are here to ride some big mountain, get muddy and have fun! And with all these girls around there is bound to be...

TIPPIE!!! With his signature pose! Tippie for Prime Minister!!!

If you've made it this far, or just skipped to the bottom. You have been rewarded with knowing that there will be an edit to follow shortly. So keep your eyes peeled!

I really enjoy seeing people on newer bike having fun (like the most of us), but then the better part is the people who have some OG bikes and still love to go shred the local bike park just like the rest.
  • + 2
More related to your username than your comment...but where are the trek bikes?
  • + 1
 Lol, yeah good question!
  • + 18
This would be a cool weekly feature. Show up at bike parks and take pictures of people and their rides. Ladies getting dirty riding bikes is damn sexy!
  • + 16
This is such a great piece! Real riders and their rides! I love it! And it shows biking is for everyone!, congrats to all the newbies! This makes up for that retarded piece on the ebike.

  • + 13
Glad everyone had fun on opening day. I swear I posted a pictures of every person that came by the tent in the 3hrs I was there. Guess the ladies are just a little more brave! My goal was to give everyone a cool picture of themselves and their bikes. Maybe something a bit better then an Instagram selfie.

 YT is sick
  • + 6
 More of this please.

No mention of wheel size or the "E" word.

Real riders, doing real riding. This is what mountain boing is all about.

Funner is better than faster for most of us.
The smiles tell the story much better than words.

nice to see some older bikes out there. I get a bit jealous of the people on new Aurums and V10s but then I remember my Santa Cruz VP Free is a bit of a rarity out there nowadays and it's awesome to ride in the park. not going to Whistler but I can't wait to take it to Chatel in the summer!

A Picture is Worth A Thousand Words

I agree with what was said earlier.
This needs to become a regular deal.
Pictures of us common folk (and uncommon) and our rides.
I'm guessing that most people didn't realize how many female riders there are.
Cudos to the ladies.

Mind you, it does take a fairly dedicated person to forgo riding and take 3 hours of pictures.
The end results show it was worth it and well received.
Show me more.....

That DVO emerald looks sooo fat

  • + 1
Trev Berg is up there. He made it to the tent. Maybe I'll just have to go out and find the others.
  • + 2
Its really cool to see some folks who plumper in the midsection rock'n it. Its inspiration for me to come as i am. It also might be a great place to meet a girl.
  • + 4
WOW, Katie Holden rocking major gnar on her shin.......RESPECT girl!

Everytime Vin shaves his beard he looks like Tom Hanks from The Ladykillers.

  • + 1

@cheifstash - Thanks man... Iris Flows. The fit super well with my Cortex and have better venting than most other brands I have ridden.
  • + 1
@KillintonVT Thanks for the reply. I looked them up and they look different. The ones you have look like aviator googles.

  • + 1
Lotsa DH bikes. 3 weeks and counting.
  • + 2
 Needs more session...
  • + 1
 Jackson Goldstone is a boss
  • + 1
Jackson is one of the most recognizable people under 4 feet tall in Whistler. Also one of the most in need of a haircut. Looks like he's been spending a lot of time on the bike. It only takes a couple of hours to get a haircut son. Keep on trucking!
  • + 1
Nice guys way to start the session off !!!!!!#1
  • + 1
Way to represent PGR! Wish I could have made this trip with you girls!

 BIKE PRON, INDEED!!!
  • - 3
Honestly I love mountainbiking and most all about it but really I don't give a rip what people are riding on opening weekend of the whistler bike park. This article is basically a waste of time
  • + 14
You could bring your nice BMW next time. I can take a sweet picture of you with it. Would that work?
  • + 4
This is about the people, the riders, run what ya brung, early season, less than ideal weather, and the big stoked smiles from all who managed to get up there this weekend. No crowds, no glossy new project bikes, minimal pros. Gives most of us the jones to get up there - I'm not scheduled until August but this gets the blood moving. Do ppl from Alberta hate on BC because they don't have Whistler AKA adult Disneyland?
  • - 3
Pura Vida! Vin looking devilish bro! Chris, DVO Emerald looking titty tight!
