PRESS RELEASE: Blue Mountain Bike Park

We’re less than a month away from the scheduled Opening Day of mountain bike season here at Blue Mountain, and we have some more exciting news to get everyone excited for the trails to open!

Before East Coast Open, before King of the Mountain, and before Tuesday Night Series, there was The Blue Cup! With no Canada Cup or Ontario Downhill Series this summer, we’ve decided to bring back this OG event for the people. There are no points to chase and no excess race fees, just your chance for bragging rights as the fastest racer at Blue Mountain. Join us in kicking off the season on Saturday, June 9 with this fun, jam-format downhill race. More details will be released closer to the event date, but you can find the latest updates on the Facebook event page. If you're looking for more on the event front this summer, we’re also bringing back the MEC Canadian National Enduro Series, Coors Light Tuesday Night Downhill Series, Annual Women’s Ride Weekend and Rider Appreciation Day.

With Opening Weekend on the horizon, we can reveal a little bit more about what Trail Crew has up their sleeves for this coming summer. Once the snow melts, crew will be out putting their shovels and rakes to work to add two new trails to the Bike Park! The first is the official rebirth of an old favourite. R-Shore was used for last year’s Canadian National Enduro Series race, and it will be returning full time for the 2018 season. This black diamond, singletrack trail will be based around the original trail’s existing footprint, and will feed into the lower section of O-Chute.

The second trail on the docket is a new intermediate singletrack trail that will be woven into the tree island between The Ridge and Raisin Run. This new piece of trail will make use of the natural terrain, and also add more options to link together different sections of our trail network.

Hopefully all this news has you excited to ride! If you haven’t purchased your Season Pass yet, make sure to pick it up now while the Early Bird rates of $249 (Youth, 8-12) and $309 (Adult/Teen, 13+) are still in effect. Regular prices kick in on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, so don't miss out.

We’re sure it probably never seems like enough, but you best believe Trail Crew has been busy the last few years!
Minion's Rush, H2O and The Groove/Gulch are all brand new builds since 2014. Shot Glass, O-Chute, Showcase, Haole, Squeeker and Fresh Air have also all seen major changes or updates since that time, and The Wall, Waterfall, TBDH and Hot Beverage were all added last year as rebuilds or realignments of trails that were closed due to the Gravity Logic builds.
With the two trails being added this summer, that makes 16 trails that are new or have been freshened up in the past 5 years. Always wish we could do more, but it's not a bad chunk of work!
