Bontrager Launches 2016 Spring Collection

The Man In Brown dropped off a box and a UPS invoice the other day. Inside that box, a bunch of Bontrager's latest apparel. For Spring of 2016, Bontrager is offering up (among other things) two main lines of mountain bike apparel: Lithos and Foray.

The Lithos stuff has a technical-riding slant to it; think aggressive, all mountain-style riding (longer shorts that cover knee pads, looser fit jerseys that don't make you look like the Michelin Man, etc.).

For the more cross-country and trail riding-oriented types, Bontrager's Foray line is a bit lighter and more breathable.... Foray is still nothing like the sausage suits of yore, but it does lean a bit more towards the "fitted" cut. Here's a quick rundown of what showed up in that box. Look for actual tests in the coming months.

 "Bontrager launches Spring Collection"

Am i missing something here...
I mean...

Jesus, if ever there was a nail in the coffin of why i just cannot be arsed with anything other than taking my bike and riding into the sunset until the internet explodes into a distant memory from where the world of fashion and bikes morphed into nothing more than a vacuous attempt to create desire, then this phrase is it.
  • 11 0
"Vacuous attempt to create desire." Nailed it.

Nothing against new and flashy clothes...as long as self-image does not replace the base desire to ride.

I feel like we are going to start seeing seasonal runway fashion shows on here soon.

What I want to know is why "Enduro" jerseys can't have pockets and why XC jerseys have to have annoying zippers? What's wrong with a loose (but not baggy) jersey with a non-zippered neck and some f*cking pockets that you can actually put something in besides the worlds smallest mp3 player?

At least they've got zippers on these Bontrager shorts. That's another thing most bike shorts can't get right.

So I keep looking, but always end up just wearing my smartwool shirts and 15 year old not-bike-specific Outdoor Research shorts. Guess I'm that dude. . .

Well, regarding "enduro" jerseys, I would prefer a zip (to have air to refresh me when it's wam and that can be closed when I'm a bit cold), and no pockets (anyway, I ride with a backpack).

And as a woman, a fitted cut, and real sleeves that come near my elbow.

I get the idea of a zip in front but it just doesn't do it for me. I never use it on jerseys I own that do have zips and they also just make the jerseys look/fit weird for me. And I wear a pack 99% of the time too, but I would ditch it on shorter, out the front door rides if my jersey had some decent pockets. FWIW I don't feel the pockets would interfere at all while wearing a pack.

Soccer goalie jerseys and skate shortsSmile
I'm a bit embarrassed to be seen in pretty much any "cycling" gear.
  • 3 0
Embarrassed by cycling gear whilst cycling, but not by a soccer jersey and skate shorts whilst cycling? OK...

Just my way of saying" the clothes are ugly"

Not the worst colour...

You Germs are excluded. I know you guys just get the better colors. But damn, sometimes euros get crazy
  • 3 0
Nah, don't let the Germans off the hook that easy. When I lived there, red jeans were all the rage.
