Borderline DH Moelfre - Midland Championships 2015

Oct 20, 2015
by Mike Marsden
The last race of the season will soon be upon us and although November events don't normally permit points this has been approved by British Cycling and we're allowing racers double points for Midland Champs. In addition to that the proceeds will be split evenly between Jason Brennan and Beverley Barnes who are both on a long road to recovery following injury. We will also be donating to the Welsh Air Ambulance who we all appreciate a great deal.

Yes it might be wet, yes it might be cold but this is all for a great cause and the challenges that face Jason, Beverley and Welsh Air Ambulance are only a fraction of what you might come up against racing Moelfre in early November (It might even be sunny.) Our friends over at www.mtbuplifts.co.uk and the crew at the JRTF DH Racing Team have been busy getting the track ready for the race weekend so a massive shout out to them for all their efforts.

Round 4 - Midlands Championships presented by Kingud Bike Care:

Date: 7 - 8 November 2015

Address: Moelfre Hall, Oswestry, Powys, SY10 7QJ

Fetish Bikes Downhill

Already we have support from Martin Sands at Onegiantleap who is lending us his bike rack trailers, bringing them down and collecting them in his own time. Remote Medical Services will also be offering us a discount on their services too.

Volunteer marshals would be a massive help so if you're able to help please contact me directly. If anyone knows anyone in the business that could lend us crowd barriers and a skip either for free or at a reduced rate that would be amazing, and if you're around on the Friday and would like to lend a hand setting up then this again helps us reduce costs.

It was quite moving speaking to both Beverley and Jason and listening to their stories about what happened and their continuous road to recovery. They are both pleased that I wanted to help but also highlighted that awareness of the struggles of both these two and people like them face and the support they need every day is important. Beverley has said any money would go towards 'handheld controls' for her car so she can once again get some freedom back and Jason is trying to get a 4 wheel Mountain bike built up so that he can spend some time with his lad in the outdoors.

The determination of these two is incredible. They are both aiming to be at the event as one thing they both miss is the the downhill community which is unlike no other. The last thing from me to you the racers is to come along and show your support. The more entries we get the better. You still get the same event you always would have, uplift bike racks courtesy of Onegiantleap, Double points, 2 x race runs, a great event and the feeling that you know you have helped out three great causes.

Entry is right here.

Thank you in advance for your support,
