Born From Dust: Weston Potter Killing It - Video

Jul 26, 2017
by evo

Traveling east from Seattle reveals a whole new landscape as the sun burns away, the clouds and loam give way to sand. Compared to the PNW many know and love, with hero dirt and dense green canopies, Eastern Washington is a foreign desert.

Those riders who grew up here, like Weston Potter, thrive in the heat and rugged hills of Washington’s often overlooked eastern half. They prove that trail conditions don’t matter if you know your limits and are willing to push them. “Born From Dust”, Weston shows how these Eastern Washington trails have shaped his high-flying and high-speed riding style.

 Oh, I'm not sure it's overlooked. But in anycase, that's one of the most fun trails in Eastern Washington. Between the variety of tech, jumps and narrow ridgeline riding, this one is a real gem! Oh and Weston, I've never seen anyone ride that like you do. You took some of the big lines and boosted beyond the landings and did it all with style. Really impressive riding there sir!

 @wes140: Pumped...... pumped...... I was ready to throw in the towel. You my friend, are a class act.

Just like George Brannigan deciding it's quicker to jump the berms than to rail them.

 I rode my first lap on this trail the day this was filmed evidently, and encountered Weston and Reily hiking out at the bottom. Nice guys, had no idea how amazing the riding and footage turned out. Well done. I didn't go nearly as huge, but still had tons of fun.

 "Eastern Washington" haha. By that same logic, Bend is in Eastern Oregon. Anyway, sick vid, tore Tres up.

 Many of the long term residents of Washington State consider the entire area from the eastern slope of the Cascades to the border of Idaho as Eastern Washington by figure of speech rather than geographic reality. When traveling anywhere in Washington east of a Cascade pass, my father will always use the term "going east of the mountains".

 Shhhhh! Don't speak the name

 On the West Coast of North America, a desert environment always exists east of the dominant mtn range. Bend is in such an environment, but is on the high-desert foothills of the Cascades, in Central Oregon, and not technically in Eastern Oregon per my map. As an obviously annoying Californian, maybe I'll move there!

 Potter flat out kills it every time! I love riding with him. I live 5 minutes from this trail and its bar far my favorite in the valley.

 ^ It's pretty fun and the dirt is really good even when dry there. Unlike so many other trails nearby.

 Best thing about living in Eastern Wa is I can legit find tons of big stuff to ride and don't have to worry about a trail. Find what you like, hike your bike up and shred. I have my spots.

 Same thing in Indiana. Everywhere you go there's a cornstalk to bunnyhop over while riding on glacier-flattened earth without any recognizable elevation change. I can see downtown from my neighborhood... 26 miles away. Serious shredding! Some people just can't handle it.

 @Warburrito: HAHA AWESOME!

 @Warburrito: You obviously havent explored enough. You are thinking wheat fiellds while I ride some nice desert bluffs. There is Rampage shit out there, not for me it isnt' but you could find some very crazy lines. There are big mountain lines here
