It's not always straight forward in practice and working the track in stages is the only way. Drop in with Brendan Fairclough and get a glimpse at the always brutal Val Di Sole UCI World Cup Track

That track is brutal. I think that is the difference between myself and a Pro rider. I have a natural instinct to want to live.

You know when it looks rough / hard in a video its bad as videos often make things look flatter and easier when in real life they are savage.

The arm pump must be unreal.

@justanotherusername: In Loris Vergiers pov cam footage you can hear him complaining most of the way down the track about how bad it is. Wouldnt like to do it at a casual pace, nevermind race speed.

@doe222: what the heck footage are you referring to?

@doe222: by bad do you mean rough / difficult?

Not heard of anyone describe the track as 'bad' and I have spoken to a fair few racers who have ridden the WC here over the years, the most common opinion being that it's one of the best tracks they have ridden.

It's refreshing to see that even an absolute pro like Brendog struggles on his first runs to assemble a fluent run. Still absolutely inspiring and humbling to see the mind-bending speed he has on some of the sections. The track looks insane, classic DH gnar all the way!

Would love a cameo appearance of Sam Hil on a Ironhorse Sunday WC to show these guys how it's done

This is so steep my fingers are twitching wanting to pull the brakes...

What was that camera? Had almost enough resolution to show the rider changing his mind on lines!

Does anyone else look at that inside (grassy) line near the bottom and just think ‘why Sam, why!!???!!’

I think it was wider back then, and Sam, he's the king at inside lines. Nobody can match him in crazy inside lines. It just didn't work out that time.

@Leppah: It was taped wider in 2007, Cathro said in his video they should open that up again!

It's me or that bike was super silent at the begining and at the end was making sounds (screaming) from each part/component???

Let's give a big shout out to all the women racing this course this weekend!!! They don't have the same upper body strength as men yet they are racing the same course!

Relentless track. He cleans that up a touch and he got something. Looked awful comfortable on most of it

Vergier's pov really show how rough it is. I don't like stabilizer, it's like politic : hiding the truth.

I liked the part where he rode over the roots.

  • 1 0
 Are you clipped?

 Needs more roots.

Wow, that commentary was awesome! ;-)

I don't know, I liked that he didn't try to copy Claudio with the running commentary, just shut up and sent it! No one does the commentary like Claudio. Brendan just lets his riding do all the talking :-)
