It's a shame that there aren't any stylish downhillers on the list this year. Brendog was the only one and now he's out there should have been a better mix of alternates (Kade, Kaos or Kerr would have been good choices imo)

I still don't understand why can not all the "alternates" be official riders and there would be 18 riders instead of 15. It is not like we talk about 10s or even 100s of extra riders like in a downhill world cup, we talk about 3 of the best freeriders/slope style riders on the planet trying to make it to the biggest FR comp of the year.

There has to be a limit somewhere. If they took 18 riders in, there would still be amazing riders left behind on the alternate list.

There's lots of great riders being thrown around as replacements, but a few things to keep in mind: Rampage is not WC, slopestyle or even Hardline; pulling monster tricks on this scale and terrain is a beast of its own. Also, with Covid it's pretty critical where the alternate is currently located. They start digging PDQ and if you're still overseas it's gonna be tough to get organized and make it. Seems like DJ or Stark are the best stylistic and logistical fits IMO...

Cam McCaul, during Sunday Slopestyle from Silverstar Crankworks, said that Tommy was the only rider present to participate in rampage. Don't know why they can't announce the replacement in the same post as the withdrawal...

The freeride movement is definitely dying off unfortunately. Hate to see it, but the buzz is gone and fizzling out day by day it seems. Just look at the homepage here. Look at the stories/articles that get the conversations goin. Definitely not the freeride/slope scene anymore. Hoping rampage lights the fire again a bit, but we shall see.

I don’t think so. Lots of coverage of the fest series this week, proving grounds a couple of weeks ago. More will undoubtedly come out when they allow it. Loads of edits and stuff regularly. I think it’s visibility has changed as bikes and their capabilities have evolved. Now the average rider can have a bike that climbs well AND shreds, even if we can’t.
