First step: 3D modelling.

Choosing the right location. In this case: the historic city hall of Vienna, right in middle of a metropolis of 1.7 million inhabitants.

Masses of good dirt.

Big machines, like a loader.

And an excavator.

Plus a vibrating plate to pack the dirt.

A shovel for the steeper parts of the landings.

Smooth, wooden launch ramps.

To finish it off Europe's best riders and masses of spectators.

Looks sick! I'd love to know the dimensions of those blue wooden ramps.

We asked Andi for a spec info -> will follow

Sorry, Andi always puts all his experience and brain power in the different obstacles he builts and doesn't want to publish his knowledge. Best is to ask him personally, if you really want to know the details. His knowledge, his decision.

looks around a 15 foot radius or slighltly bigger and about 12 feet of ramp material with the lip about 8 or 9 feet tall. Just experiment!

Andi needs the 3D modelling to estimate the volume of the dirt he will need & he has to get an approval from the council before the event, so he has to show them, what it will look like. Plus the sponsors want to know, where their branding will be located.
All big events do 3D sketches of the course in advance.

@IONbike thx for the answer. I guess for the sponsors it's very important.

Wouldn't some simple geometric calculations suffice?

 EUs biggest? District Ride? Munich?

Vienna Air King = Dirt Jump (Start drop + 3 doubles)
District Ride = Slopestyle (drops, wallrides, step ups & downs, doubles, other obstacles)

Well I've just been playing around in sketch up, so far I've made kickers and landings. Probably gonna start of with a few one meter kickers with 1.30m landings. Kickers made from OSB. Now i just need about 10 tonnes of dirt, an excavator, wood and my dad letting me do this Wink mabye once I get better Ill build the lines bigger
