For the mega I believe the key is reliability; don't try to shave weight on wheels and tyres.
Wheels : Mavic Deemax Pro, Dt EX1501 are good options; or you can go the custom way with ZTR Flow and Hope Pro

Your tyre choice will depend on the conditions but go for robust casings ie Super Gravity, DD or reinforced. If it's dry you can't go wrong wit a Agressor/HR combo in DD casing.

MAVIC Deemax ,minion dhf +dhr2 both in dd lots of stan's no tubes on them ,don't run the pressure too high cause the rubber gonna get harder in the rocks as you going ,like it feels you added 5 or 6 psi to them, and of coarse ,training is VERY IMPORTANT.

That f*cking Irish guys accent really grated on me.....so it did. I got some 2016 Mavic Crossmax sl from CRC for £290 the pair with tyres a couple of months ago, they are an amazing wheel set and for the price just unbelievable.

Get some chunky carbon rims from Sixth Element and stick some VEE tyres on them and you'll be rolling into next week no bother. And the week after. And the week after that, pretty damn quickly.
