Canyon Factory Freeride Team Ready To Rock

Mar 5, 2014
by Canyon
The attitude of the Canyon Factory Freeride Team riders could not be more #mååh – which means nothing less than having fun with every pedal stroke along the way! After all, these young guns are out there for a good time and just do what they do best. Packed with new tricks, Thomas Genon, Anton Thelander and “newbie” Peter Henke are ready to rock’n’roll the 2014 FMB World Tour year.

The freeride scene can look forward to being hooked on the action from this year’s FMB World Tour – Thomas, Anton and Peter will not disappoint! Thomas Genon and Anton Thelander have been riding for the German bike manufacturer since 2013 and from this year, Peter Henke will complete the trio. This provides a thrilling opportunity for the guys as they are also involved in the developing of the bikes: “When we started out, there was no dirt jump or slopestyle frame. The designers were really open to everything and we gave our input so that together we can create the best Canyon frame. Now, we have a killer setup, which means we can really go for it as a team and push the limits.”

Dirt and slopestyle courses will be tackled with the agile “Stitched”. This dirt bike was the freeriders’ first project with Canyon. For the bigger, gnarlier stuff the trio will arm themselves with the “Torque DHX”, already tried and tested by Thomas at Red Bull Rampage in 2013.

“We are really proud to set up the Canyon Factory Freeride Team with such well-known riders. The trigger was the integration of the new Factory Team Ranking into the FMB World Tour by the governing body, the FMBA”, says team supervisor Flo Goral. The ranking is based on the athletes’ top 6 results. “If last year is anything to go by, then we have high hopes for gold!”

2014 started off with a road trip through the south of France. The freeride trio, Thomas, Anton and Peter spent a week ripping and shredding their “Stitched” in the wild French countryside. The trip provided a lot of good times, as Peter sums up: “It was intense but we had so much fun together. Luckily we didn’t have much snow back home so I could ride without a big break. But going to the south of France gave us extra motivation.” Meanwhile, Anton Thelander has already put points on the board and secured the 3rd place at the kick-off event White Style. “2013 was quite good and I wanna continue like that – or even better. As a Swedish athlete I am used to snow, which makes White Style the perfect start.”

From the smooth dirt jumps at Vienna Air King to the brutal terrain at Red Bull Rampage – the Canyon Factory Freeride Team is ready for a sweet season ahead.

You can now follow the guys’ antics and performances on their brand new Facebook page. So stay tuned and check out just how much Thomas “La Frite” Genon, Anton “Cleanlander” and Peter #partyhenke are having.

It arrived yesterday! 8.50am and all is well. I think my brakes need bleeding and I'm still trying to get a base tune on the suspension but the first ride was fun. Tubeless valves included with the package and rims are pre-taped so that was super easy to set up. That saddle though. My arse is killing me!

They just started the developpement of the dirt frames a year ago. Since the process is not finished yet they don't sell them. I guess they'll be available pretty soon or for next season.
They are also deleopping a slopestyle fully frame. Watch out for peter henkes facebook page. You can have a sneak over there

Contract stipulates that all sponsored riders must wear jeans two sizes too small in order to compete on the Canyon team.
  • 3 2
hardly. stretch skinny jeans are by far the best option to ride in, skinny keeping the jeans out of the chain, comfy with the stretch and also warmer than baggy jeans
  • 2 2
 Ok. Just busting balls. lol
  • 3 2
you obviously have no experience of wearing skinny jeans and are therefore just being judgemental without knowledge
  • 3 2
You're upset. Learn how to take a joke. I admit, I have no experience wearing skinny jeans. So, you're right about that part.
  • 2 1
im not upset, its just frustrating when people slate things when they have no experience of the product
  • 3 2
its weird being frustrated about someone joking about clothes. seems like there's some other underlying issue. good luck with that. i mean that.

i suppose neg propping is the only sensible solution here for us adults. problem solving at its finest. good show chaps.

hhmmmm... i guess i was raised differently..... my sister wore tight jeans with little zips at the ankle in the 90's....... i didn't.
never liked squeaking when i walk al that much...... So i also don't have experience wearing skinny jeans, but i dont have any experience hitting a nail though my hand but common sense says it's not a good idea. Skinny jeans are the lycra boys of mountain biking....(XC is not mtb'íng it's road riding on dirt)

There! enough trolling in one paragraph? ryanme..... breathe and get a sense of humor!

What bike models are they riding in the first picture?
  • 2 0
canyon doesnt appear to sell it
  • 7 0
Everybody's riding on a frame they don't sell. They used to have the "stitched". No slopestyle or dirt bike but they sponsor 3 dirter... weird.
  • 1 0
Canyon sold the stitched for years... nobody bought it... and now everybody wants it, weird...
