 Holy Sh;t!!! Warner and Gracia collab will be interesting…..

 It would be really cool if they could somehow push Giant into figuring out how to make ebikes that don't absolutely suck to work on and break literally immediately.
  • 136 31
 @notthatfast: solution don't buy an ebike
  • 54 23
 @weebleswobbles:
for the neg-proppers, maybe I should explain. I'm a bike mechanic, not an eeber.
Crappy ebikes sadly affect us all, not just the people that ride them. Man y'all are judgy with your props.
  • 27 25
 @notthatfast: don't sell e-bikes...
  • 29 7
 @Phipu:
Man, if only that were my choice...

 @weebleswobbles: says a man who has never ridden one Wink
  • 29 21
 @weebleswobbles: @weebleswobbles: agreed. Mopeds break because they're not bicycles or motorcycles. They know how pathetic their existence is and just want to die of humiliation for being the ultimate inbred cousin on the back porch. They break to end their own miserable being.

 @blowmyfuse:
Love your self righteousness My friend but e-bikes and mopeds are not the same thing and I’m pretty sure you know that
  • 25 17
 @notthatfast: an ebike is an electric moped.

 @weebleswobbles: I find people hate e-bikes until they can afford one.
  • 3 0
 @notthatfast: sure, you've got to sell whatever sells, wether it's e-bikes, normal bikes or mopeds. And that products often are shit when they get on the market is true aswell.
If there is more electeonics and software involved, it's harder all the way to impossible to repair...
  • 21 12
 I wonder why people hate e-bikes, but still shuttle and ridebike parks with uplifts. It's basically the same thing in principle, just more flexible.
  • 11 4
 @Phipu: in germany last year, 48% of all sold bikes were ebikes. 18% were electric mtbs. 3% were non electric mtbs. if you really think you can operate a shop in such an environment by ignoring a huge slice of the market you are not really a good entrepreneur…
  • 15 17
 @notthatfast: I really want to sling insults at you because you sound that stupid. The two words combined are motor and pedal. E-bikes are mopeds.

You're talking about liquorcycles. Aprillas, Honda Ruckus...those are motorized. Not MoPeds.

I rode mopeds as a kid in the 80's. Start to pedal, it kickstarts a weak ass motor. You still have to pedal up the same hill, but the motor helps your ass out. You get there faster than you would on a bicycle.
But you don't get there or have the fun of a moto. You look stupid to the guy on a moto.
You look lazy to the cyclist as you pass...still having to breath heavily.

They were a stupid waste of money in the 80s. Still are now.
  • 15 13
 @blowmyfuse: I really want to sling insults at you because you sound that stupid. I think you are confusing mopeds with pedelecs.
Mopeds CAN have pedals, but don't have to. Pedelecs (ebikes as disussed in this forum) HAVE to have pedals. No mopeds nowadays have pedals. Stop comparing the present with the 80's because the 80's are long past.

Unless you still ride around on a 80's MTB, STFU and have go have som fun on your bike instead of gatekeeping, it makes you look more stupid than the guys who have fun on their ebikes who pass you sorry ass and makes you look like an old fool.

You obviously haven't tried an eMTB proper and seem to hate fun. (Yes eMTBs are fun, and yes I have tried several and own one as well as regular meat-bikes)

 @blowmyfuse: brilliant insult, nice work. It's a shame things have gone this way but I'm still interested to see where things go. Most of us will at least try one at some point.
At the moment I totally agree with you. Imagine, carrying around a heavy battery and motor and I've still got to pedal the thing? Worst of both worlds. Garbage ;-)
  • 8 2
 @blowmyfuse:
I mean if you want to compare apples to oranges, sure. Thing is, you and I both know that the definition of "moped" has changed as the English language evolves, because that's what happens.
If you REALLY want to get into semantics, which it seems like you do, the traditional definition of the word "moped" is incorrect anyways because they don't have a motor (electric), they use an internal combustion engine. Those two things are quite distinct and so I'm pretty sure that despite your personal feelings towards mopeds we can both agree that a "moped" by its current colloquial definition is quite different to a class 1 electric mountain bike, whether you like it or not, both legally and physically.

I could break it down for you but I'll just leave you with this link that makes it quite clear.

 @Sethimus: E-MTB already have a share of about 90 percent of MTB sales: of 931,600 units, 836,000 were sold with motor and battery last year.
  • 1 1
 @Tiez: statistics are not for everyone to understand…
  • 4 0
 @notthatfast: Motors aren't exclusively electric, they can be internal combustion as well.
hence why just about anything powered by an engine is preceded by motor... motor vehicle, motorbike, motorcar, motorboat, motorhome... etc.

Its a device which converts a form of energy into mechanical energy to produce motion, be it electricity or fuel.

 @notthatfast: The only people trying to change the definition of an e-bike from moped to anything else are the ones too embarrassed or ashamed to take them where they belong on the motocross trails where maybe some will laugh at them. Others might appreciate their efforts to work with their fellow motos on the designated trail systems.

But they won't. E-mopeds want to LEACH on the ADVOCACY efforts of decades of incredibly hard work, negotiation, compromise and MONETARY INVESTMENT BY THE MTB COMMUNITY and just take over all of that access.

The drive to steal away and associate electric mopeds with cyclists and mountain bikes is just as lazy as the effort it takes to pedal them.

E-bikes either belong with motos or they need to develop their own separate advocacy, resources, MONEY, LOBBYISTS & TRAILS.

Until you do it all yourself for the sport you love...you'll never have a passion. E-bikes are just leaches on the back of a community.
  • 3 0
 @blowmyfuse: it's a product designed to fit a legal loophole (no road tax, insurance, numberplates, mot etc). It will always be compromised. I wonder, if Surons had the same legal rights and freedoms as bicycles, how many pedal assist bikes would be sold.
  • 2 0
 @tremeer023: zero. It's all about accessing MTB trails rather than establishing their own segment or the shame of riding moto trails. Same as when I was a kid in 1988.

You'd rather be seen on a Z50 on moto trails. Beer

But can't sneak gas motors behind the neighbor's house or past a forest ranger.

 I think ebikes will be an subject...
  • 1 0
 @blowmyfuse: projection much
  • 1 0
 @cuban-b: I just tell the honest truth instead of making up a laundry list of holistic bullshit that gets e-bikes into trails they didn't build instead of the ones they're too embarrassed to admit they belong on. Beer
  • 1 0
 @blowmyfuse: wow you are really insecure! Hey good luck with all that!
  • 1 0
 @cuban-b: you're really good at trying to point the finger at me. Take a bow. I'm impressed.

Maybe mansplain it to me a few times.
  • 2 1
 @blowmyfuse: tell it like it is. The bay area ebike club or whatever they call themselves was like 15 electric mopeds strong at my local trail head week or two ago and already the trails were looking blown out from so much heavier traffic and zero riding skills. E bikes are pathetic and the people who ride them are lazy
  • 1 0
 @blowmyfuse: aren’t you the guy who mistook a handicapped person’s electric wheelchair for an ebike lololol. You’re a goddamn idiot Beer
  • 1 0
 @weebleswobbles: you’re pathetic Beer
  • 1 0
 @cuban-b: I remember you now. You just sling insults at everyone.

Hope you get banned again.

 For claiming to be such “tough guys” in reality y’all are a bunch of insecure pussies lolol…

Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for attending the daily Pinkbike class of “When Trolls Get Trolled!”

 I know that Cedric has always done the French commentary for the world cups, and I've always wondered how is background and insight and hilarious demeanor would pan out as an English announcer? Such a legend!
  • 15 0
 Gracia + Warner = perfection
  • 3 0
 I believe he did comment with Rob back in the freecaster days or maybe even early redbull? I think he even raced one and then went to comment after his run. And there might have been one when he was drunk Big Grin
  • 15 0
 @winko: Yes. It was not pretty and should be repeated asap.
  • 12 0
 I don't really mind what brand he rides, as long as they give him a DH bike.
  • 14 0
 That would be glory-ous.
  • 2 0
 @bigtim: Well yeah, that should do. You can't really reign if you're in trance, can you? For a moment I was worried they shipped him too much xtc, even though that would bring the nrg. Ah well, as he'd probably say, you only liv once.
  • 12 1
 Haven't heard that name in awhile! Always loved Cedric!

 Going to have to start a whole new class for the geriatrics! Get on it Cedric! Send it All Day!!!

 Isn't he still involved with forestal, which I recall he founded? Why get sponsored by another bike brand?
  • 2 1
 Everyone’s got bills to pay
  • 11 0
 I wondered that too and asked forestal. He apparently was never a share holder or something alike of forestal and just sponsored by them. they ended their contract last year
  • 3 0
 @bashhard: I was following Forestal for a while and eager to see what they would bring to the market but now I wonder if they even make mountain bikes anymore. I don’t think there has ever been a review here or NSMB or Vital. Shame as they seemed innovative.
  • 3 0
 @sngltrkmnd: Dude, all you had to do was google "Forestal Bikes", and you'd see they're for sale on many online retailers, including Worldwide Cyclery
  • 2 1
 @sngltrkmnd: They make super highend ebikes, aka the things that will get flamed to oblvion on PB/Vital.
  • 2 0
 @bashhard: Yeah right. The way it ws promoted a few years before they released anything i could of sworn he was an active , financil partner. I guess it shows how the "influencer" trail can work.

 I remember CG's bike from the 2004 Rampage, he had a steering damper installed so he could pull no-hander landings. Too bad he got hurt in practice and we didn't get to see his run. www.pinkbike.com/u/danielsapp/blog/now-that-was-a-bike-cedric-gracias-cannondale-gemini.html

 Looking forward to more CG content - always smiling and always entertaining! But bos suspension...? Another comeback I guess

 Wait.....didnt he have his own brand of bikes??

  • 1 0
 the only guy still getting signed in his 40's and sponsored by a Bank!
  • 1 0
 Is this bad news for Forestal? Or good?
  • 1 0
 Now we need a DH Team like back in the '00 !
  • 2 2
 Did he win an overall DH WC title?
  • 6 0
 Nope, barely any race even, CG is not famous because of his results, mostly because of his exuberant personality.
  • 13 0
 @Balgaroth: Won a Rampage though... that has to count for something
  • 5 0
 @awitty: NWD part with the boat chase is still the GOAT.
  • 5 0
 @awitty: and did a backflip on a 4X race!
  • 4 0
 My understanding from something I read was the Cannondale Volvo team Management kept asking him to stop airing out the jumps during his runs so that he could have a better race run time. Haha.
  • 7 0
 Several times second overall in downhill AND dual-slalom/4X, while putting a great show for the fans. Legend.
  • 2 0
 CG can afford to not win an overall and still be a LEGEND. Wink
  • 2 2
 Can't wait to hear him crack a joke...or a frame!
  • 1 1
 Forestal can drop their prices by 5K now that Ced has left.
  • 2 2
 That is so weird to me.....
