@DPoole603: Sam is no doubt a faster downhiller than Rude (does this even need to be said?), so it wouldn't be surprising. This isn't even Sam's sport and he's 2nd. Who knows what he could pull off if he took to a full season as his one sport. You don't see Rude trying to race DH anymore.
@atrokz: Hard to draw that conclusion, actually. Richie stepped away from DH as Junior World DH Champion and never raced DH at a WC event as an adult. Yeti doesn't have a WC DH team, so Richie isn't likely to enter as a privateer. I would put my money on Rude at the moment if the two of them were to race the same WC DH.
@herzalot: Nobody doubts Rude's abilities and current peek, that's for certain, but the conclusion can be drawn on results as it's the only logical comparison. They seem close based on the same races attended, but pull in the overall wins and results and it's clear whos always been a faster DHer. www.rootsandrain.com/compare.html?i=13629x2940 Stopping racing DH just means you won't be as fast if you got back into it, see Nico for reference and anyone whos tried to come back after years off. Never works out. Don't forget Hill beat Rude in May at the last EWS race.... So maybe they are closer in terms of enduro racing than we think.
At any rate, the point as moot as it may be, is that it's impressive for someone who doesn't race this sport exclusively (as a dedicated profession like it is for Rude) to perform so well.
I suppose he is seeing his efforts turn to results again - He is obviously fit enough to be up there in DH but cant quite show the form of prevous years which must be hard to deal with - 6-7 seconds out on a WC DH race now is outside the top 20, sometimes the top 30, its a tough field out there.
I imagine CRC will give full support to Sam if he wants to race enduro next season, I imagine the Mega is their best selling model by far and top EWS results will only help.
That was a proper rock garden they showed in there a couple of times (like at 4:52). Seeing chunk like that I don't understand how people could Enduro isn't pretty hardcore.
