In a place of a large community of riders and a big mountain bike scene, enduro mountain biking has not reached this part of the country. At least, until the second round of the Chaoyang BES
Many bikers attended the enduro event for the first time.
The event adopted a different approach to racing and had three special stages on Saturday and two on Monday, and pleased the majority of the riders. Despite a forecast of sunshine, a storm came on Friday and turned over the conditions, once again bringing mud, slippery terrain, and adding more difficulty on the physic side.
Some of the liaisons that were supposed to be completed in less than 40 minutes got “short” because of the mud and heavy terrain and the riders had to give their all to get to the start line on time.
| We are very content with the race this weekend. The rain came again (as it did in the first round) and made things more difficult, but that is mountain biking. We have made a few changes to the way we deliver the stages, and we are also stepping up the technical level of the races and it is working good. Bring it on the next round!—Théo Mello, One of the Events Organizers |
In the Elite man, Wallace Miranda (Santa Cruz/Fox/Dopamina) showed that he is a very serious contender to the title and took another win.
In the Elite woman, Isabella Lacerda, a local cross country rider made her appearance in a good way, getting the biggest step of the podium.
Next round will hit Rio de Janeiro, in the city of Petrópolis, for the third round of the series.
