Skills Coaching Based at Cannock Chase

New Mountain Bike skills coaching venture to launch at Cannock Chase in the West Midlands.

Cannock Chase has seen a Mountain Bike revolution over the last few months with the introduction of the new Red Graded (with some Black) "Monkey" Trail. This trail is a big improvement over the "Follow the Dog" Trail which launched some years ago. The increase in Mountain Bike traffic can certainly be seen and has provided a great base for visitors from afar.

This is where the idea of Chase Skills came from. I couldn't help notice the number of newcomers to the sport and even some of the well-seasoned riders struggling with some of the new terrain and to cut a long story short, here I am on the verge of launching this new venture.

I didn't fire this venture up to make a "quick buck", it was setup out of the passion for being out in the countryside and the enjoyment of coaching others. The result of this means is that I have setup 3 cost effective courses to coach differing levels starting at only £35.

The Level 1 course has been designed to give newcomers to the sport a basic introduction to the sport and is easy on the legs and body as it runs for half a day. Anymore would be too much for a newcomer.

The Level 2 course is aimed at riders who have already given Mountain Biking a go and now want to get the skills to go with the fitness they have. To maximize the learning, this course is run for a full day on Cannock Chase.

The Level 3 course is aimed at riders who already have the basic skills and want to improve on them.

All 3 courses cover a similar content, but in differing levels of ability and terrain. The skills covered are shown below;

Pre-ride Bike Safety Checks
Riding Position
Braking Techniques
Pedaling Techniques
Ascending Techniques
Descending Techniques
Cornering Techniques
Line Selection
Drop offs
Front Wheel Lifts
Track Stands
Riding Switchbacks
Riding Berms
Difficult Terrain
Bunny Hops
Speed Hops
Powered Wheel Lift
Jumping

As well as the set courses, there is the ability to book 1-2-1, 1-2-2 and group bookings (maximum of 6 participants) which can be tailored to suit your requirements.
