 Spec blast looks legit at a great price point. I don't care if you can make one out of a 2 liter. I'm not doing that.

 Really liking my Bontrager Flash Charger TLR. Not as portable as this though I would think that carrying around both a pump and an external tank would be a little more troublesome than a single unit. Would be pretty useful to stash this somehow with a frame pump though.

 As someone who made one out of a 2-liter, this pricepoint certainly changes the game. were I to need a new one $55(especially if you can find cheaper on sale) means I'd just spend the cash instead.

Not cheap enough to buy to replace my fully working 2-liter solution, however.

 @millpill: I regret I bought the bontrager flash pump. For over 100$ it has plastic bottom and handle, and the hose broke when it tipped over. Works decent for tubeless, but blows as a regular pump. For some reason it takes a long time for air to go through it

 I don't understand the frustration around setting up tubeless. Maybe it's just that i choose the right tire/rim combo (minion TR and Easton ARC27) but i had zero issues inflating the tires at a slow and steady pace with a track pump and getting it to seat. Also did it with those tires on WTBi25 rims with practically zero effort. What am i doing wrong (right?) here...

 @Bikeordie1: Nothing, you're just getting lucky. WTBs are a good choice in that respect as well, I've had good luck with them. But sometimes things just don't play nicely, & that's where these come in.

 @Bikeordie1: I'm the same way, and I think it has to do with Maxxis tires. Before installing new tires tubeless, I always unfold and shape them and wait like a day to put them on. Always able to seat my maxxis rubber with a floor pump on my wtb and I9 wheels!

 @Bikeordie1: Ive done all my setups with the handpump I use in my pack. I find if you use a tire lever to pull the tire onto the bead and biunce the wheel lightly on the ground it seal pretty easily.

 @Bikeordie1: It helps a lot to use a tube to seat one bead, so that only one is broken when you add sealant. But I've had cheaper tires, especially ones that aren't tubeless rated, be quite frustrating. another thing is wire beads: heavier, so they require more air pressure to push outwards.

Normally, I always buy a tubeless casing, but sometimes you don't have the option. One of the first 27.5+ tires with decent side knobs was the Panaracers, but they're thin walled, loose fitting tires, with big volume. had to pull every trick(seat one bead with a tube, tie strap around the middle, & soda bottle pressure) to get them to seat.

 I've always been able to seat a tubeless tire with just a hand pump and the only times you cant are if there are cuts in the sidewall but nothing fixes that. My pump just died on me though so I bought a new one not the flash pump because it was so expensive. This looks like a decent alternative.

 @Airfreak: sidewall cuts can be fixed. old school rubber patches, rubber cement, & a C clamp. Slime makes a kit, it's like $4 at harbor freight.

 @groghunter: I was more referring to sidewall cuts on the bead. Those are hard to fix without altering the shape of the bead yes?

 Decent compressor for the garage is under $100. Unless you're looking to change tires at the trailhead and want it to be portable, why would you bother with a floor pump that does the reservoir thing? Cuz in your garage, that compressor has about a zillion other uses.

 @Airfreak: If the actual bead is cut, that's a problem. most of the time, though, it's right above the bead. I've successfully fixed those. You may not get every one, & sometimes it will have a wobble, but hey, sometimes that's better than having to shell out for a new tire.

 @groghunter: understood. But a pump is less of a pain to use than an air compressor? Lol plugging a cord in and hitting a switch is harder than pushing a handle up and down 50 times?

 @g-42: yup, my compressor was less than $75 and works like charm with the added benefit of working with air tools and high pressure air nozzle for cleaning. However this is the first reasonable priced system not using a compressor for seating tubeless tires and I'm all for getting one for road trips

 @g-42: Your post assumes the existence of a garage. Not everyone can afford such accommodations.

 @g-42: I wouldn't say a decent compressor. Id prefer a large type compressor over a small compressor that you see in the range of 100 bucks. Those seem to always be on because if you use the slightest air it needs to fill the small reservoir back up. I had one and had to pump up some truck tires and it took literally a half hour for one.

The floor pump reservoir thing never crossed my mind to get, but this offering from specialized is pretty nice. You'd only need it a handful of times a year so your not lugging around a huge floor pump with reservoir all the time.

And also as someone mentioned it would be good for road trips. But to each his own. I own a small compressor but never use it because it sucks.

 @SeaJay: Yep, less of a pain. with the compressor, If you have to move it, it's a heavy PoS to move around. If it's stationary, you're giving up shop space for it. Use it enough that the air pressure goes down, & it kicks on & you can't hear yourself think. & chucks that work with presta are expensive(more than this tool, actually,) & the schrader chucks usually want you to have pressure at the valve core to open, which you don't have when dealing with an uninflated tire with a presta valve.


& the bottle doesn't take 50 strokes, unless your pump takes 50 strokes to inflate a tire. I might put 15 into mine before it's ready, tops. & often, I can go with a smaller bottle & use even less. seating beads is 90% pressure, 10% volume, so unless it's a big tire, the 1l bottle can move enough air at the 60 or so PSI I need to seat a bead.

 Absolutely! I paid the full retail price for this thing and it's totally worth it. It's easy to use and made of sturdy materials. I wasn't able to seat some tire combos, but perhaps it's because they weren't tubeless tires? Really glad I didn't spend $100 on Air Shot or even more for the Bonty Flash Charger.

I'm working on a blog entry for my design, which is something I've been meaning to do for a while. I made mine with some brass pipe fittings to make it a little easier to use. Basically comes down to a male/male/male brass tee, a ball valve, a NPT nut, a NPT to 1/4" tubing barb & tubing, & a shrader/NPT valve. I made mine out of all 1/4" NPT, but I'd use 1/8" if I were to do it again(1/8" NPT has the same internal diameter as 1/4" tubing.) My pump doesn't require me to do anything to switch between schraeder & presta, but if yours does, get a tee with a 1/4" compression fitting on one end, & put a tubeless presta valve on that side, it'll seal with just the nut, no olive needed.

 Yes, thank you Switchback for making a tailgate easy-chair. I'm sure I'll use it while I'm out on my bike. And at the slim price of less than $200? A steal for sure. My old comforter just wasn't cutting it—and of course the floral pattern was too flashy.

 origanal dakine pad was around $80-$100 so for a extra $100 you get a back rest.....i would understand if it was the same price as the og. $100 is a carbon bar or new rubber.

 I use those 2 piece e-thirteen tubeless valves and they've never leaked around the valve hole, it's best to not overtighten them as the description says, just finger tight.
The only problem with those is that you can't use a screw on brass adapter so you can use a car pump. I found removing the core and using the Speed Chuck that comes with Lezyne pumps works great. You have to hold it on as it's just a press fit and pushing down on top of the tyre helps the tyre bead to catch. Then once the bead has caught just replace the valve core and use the regular screw on pump head. Using a HV Lezyne Dirt Floor pump here...Obviously always seat the beads first with a tube..

Hope tech rims and Schwalbe or Maxxis tubeless ready tyres go up and seal good and easy....

Gorrila tape is better than yellow tape. Don't worry about the sticky left behind from Gorilla tape if you replace it as it's easy to remove. Just roll the sticky into a ball and work your way around..
Poke hole through the valve with a slim rounded blade/tip screwdriver rather than an X slit with a knife. Then push the valve through. Gets you a better valve seal.

 The Switchback pad looks pretty sweet. Why not, if you are going to have a haul pad on your truck all the time it might as well have a bonus feature. I don't think $195 is too crazy as long as the quality is good. Looking forward to seeing how these guys do.

 I'm thinking a smaller surface area of the clips wouldn't be a good idea with how flexy the free riders are. It works well with flats because the bigger surface area distributes the weight better.

 I ride with a pair of high top cyclones the 5-10 used to make. Great shoe it is. Clipless, stealth rubber leather high top. Don't know why they stopped making them.
