Chris is one of the most talented riders out there I don't know how he isn't sponsored by one of the bigger bike companies. He's the U.K. equivalent of Matt Hunter but with more technical skill. Great edit now time for a nice cuppa
you see those drops he did?? to flat?! they have revamped their pivot bearings alot to withstand the abuse. i would way rather watch Chris than Danny bc the simple fact, he rides trails and trials, and makes them look so fun, that i wanna go ride
before we say anything else, we should check, if Sam Hill and Danny MacAskill are still among us. Because it seems like the fusionated somehow....
Akrigg is a god on two wheels, seriously, so amazing!!
Chris, you're my idol!
and by the way, check this video from the Red Bull Mini Drome Fixie Race in London 2011. Not only did he win the race, but he bunnyhopped over his opponent: www.youtube.com/watch?v=O46Db4n21zE
Chris Akrigg is definitely one of my favorite riders, and this video was amazing! Much more fun to watch than Macaskills vids in my opinion...no disrespect to Danny, but his videos don't get me stoked to ride as much as Chris's do.
@cyfa89 I'm not giving mongoose shit by that comment mate, its just with Akriggs skill you'd think a company like specialized would have a spot for him, I mean how good would it be to see him in a big MTB film like follow me or life cycles
What makes this video so sick is the fact that this is for sure an EPIC and all of the towns people are so relaxed like nothing is going on!!! Chris has such steeeze its insaaane! This video stoked the shit out of me
Sam Hill is really branching out... Here he is warming up for the women's race: www.pinkbike.com/photo/6143706 (pay particular attention to the eyebrows and the monster energy team colours!)
I got to say that is some of the wildest riding i have ever seen he i s incredibly talented that kid is amazing and should be recognized i hope as a true pro wish he raced i would cheer for him wild wild wild
This is like parkour biking. "the fastest way to get from one place to the next". I mean, trials is just for fun right? Or is it time trials? He clearly had a destination. This is the way my 40 year old cross country friends bike. It surely is not xc haha.
wow and he did it all on a mongoose lol and people who are comparing him to other riders like mat hunter uhh theres no comparison i couldnt see akrigg doing some of the things hunter has done and i dont think there is a rider out there who you can compare akrigg too because his so unique
Sorry matt-bike-baha, wanted to give positive prop, but your right, FR with trials, purely amazing, with these skills you can navigate almost any trails out there! I'm going to start training to ride like this now.
he proberly feels better riding a open face and also he has confident in himself that he doesn't need one just look at his other videos he wears a flat cap in those
I'm semi-convinced this is filmed in Menorca... I know the radio tower at the start is definately Menorca cause I have been there, but as for the other locations, I only recognise the empty frame of a building that he dropped down. f*cking epic vid though It was a real good twist of FR/Trials... Wanna see more of it XD
@Bathan - Akrigg has been around for a while, longer than Macskill has been on the scene.
They are both great riders but to be honest they both ride differant stuff. Macskill has an insane street/trials style riding where as Akrigg is more using his trails technique on natural terrain on a range of bikes.
That was EPIC...
I can't believe Chris has not entered any Urban DH races! He would be very good!
He is by far the BEST All Around rider in the world!
He beats hipsters in the mini velodrome, he does trials on a All Mountain bike...dude.
Akriggs an amazing rider, but you don't need me to tell you that. Did you know he also races a spot of DH every now and again. He raced the Nationals here in the UK and took the win in Masters 30-39. The best all rounder? DH, Trials, Fixie, Hill Climb, Street, Freeride, Velodrome.. Anyone else out there compete?
I don't get everyone trying to compare him to macaskill! akrigg has been in the public eye for years his skill on just about any bike is incredible! on the other hand some of you seem to assume macaskill only rides trials but like most of us does a bit of everything he had an mbuk spread in the scottish highlands riding with steve peat and hans rey riding all mountain downhill and some trials aspects much like akrigg in this film/ major props to akrigg though top notch video.
how the hell does the manitous on the front handle what he is doing?????? awesome talent not just what he is doing in the video but to keep them working for 5 mins+ of footage
nah i seem to be be good with parts just, i have had 2 sets of manitous due to their price (im not a rich mountain biker) and both failed on light trails and nothing they were designed to do, i.e blown seals, travel on 170mm forks blowing out to about 10mm of travel cracked crown and that was just the 1 set the others headtube bent on a 4 foot drop to a slightly ramped surface like the upper crown twisted made no sense at all, i didnt think that could happen especially when 170mm travel is 30mm less than your bikes max travel
Awesome video, I saw Chris in person a few years back and he is truly talented. I have tried to get some of my friends into trials biking but no success, they just aren't interested. This shows that the skills and balance you learn in trials benefits all forms of riding.
yeah man I agree, I love the Dh but this was just down right awesome, i could ride through the streets with him, but no where near the style, this guy is fun to watch ride a bike for sure..tomorrows VOD?
this is great hes good because of course he has talent but he chooses lines that arent typical or the common one even if another rider could ride the lines that he could (which some can) they dont try hard enough to find a different line (ingenuity) this is freeride for sure - the real definition hes not constrained to race or go a praticular way or do a particular thing
my favourite bit was where he took the steps corner too wide and just popped his wheel up onto the wall
Akrigg rocks. So what if he's sponsored by Mongoose? At least he's sponsored and doing what he loves for a living. Bet most people on here couldn't say that.
Man, Chris is just killing it. I remember meeting him at a few red bull events and he's always been super cool and easy to talk to. Glad to see him still raising the bar for FR/trail riding... that shute to drops to flat were just better then cheeseburgers.
A nicely shot video there showing some great riding talent, makes me want to go back to Switch-Backs ASAP, recognise some of the trails from our trip down there back in 08: Switch-backs DH visit report
Love the riding style. Pretty much most type of aggressive riding mixed together. Looks like a whole lot of fun. Respect to the man. I love riding bike. So much you can explore and see and have fun doin at the same time.
Truly inspiring! This video shows what is possible when you put your mind to it. Yes, someday I too hope to be an old retired guy hanging with my buds in a Japanese mini truck.
I love Akrigg cos, like Mcaskill, he rides what he is given. Not too much fannying around with spades digging grooves in woodlands, just getting on the rocks like a decent scotch.
Enough comments already...but MY GOD! Blown away. Who says you need a fancy bike for each discipline you ride. I'm deffo with the fella about 100 comments up: Akrigg Vs McCaskill video DO IT!!!
This is class ! So could anyone tell me if there is any downhill tracks around the area of ( Gran Alacant or santa pola , or benidorm , or any where around these areas All in SPAIN ) Thanks
He can do it on a DH bike, trials bike and fixie too! The man is just so full of talent and creativity... He sees bonkers lines everywhere, and most of them time, pulls them off.
Yea in jib and a couple other movies made by the same company. V-Dub has loads of skills, other than the trials stuff he was doing on his dare, he can also ride wicked street and DJ's. I dont know whatever happened to that guy.
He is so aggressive but makes everything look fun, alright there are the drops but there is some stuff here that most of us can do with only a bit of practice, great viewing.
sick sick sick, this video is knar-lee trials on an am/fr bike... whats up with those drop to flats... coolest riding ive ever seen, why cant i fav this vid??
I love that its in HD but I wish there was a way to fav it, because this is some of the most talented riding I've ever seen. Seriously good skill! Awesome vid all around!
Their bikes are all the same though... If my mongoose memory is correct it more or less started with the teocali, then they stuck some more metal on, gave it more travel, and bingo, the black diamonds which they then refined to the bootr and slimmed down into various guises as the khyber, the pinnr and the nugget
The Nugget is a 4" slopestyle frame. The teocali has almost 6" of travel. I don't know what he was riding before (other than fixies, trials, and at least one other vid I saw he was on another full-sus... ), but it wouldn't matter if you mounted 2 trash can lids under a rocking horse... Akrigg would.... well, rock it.
Just picked up a Nugget from Redcorn right here on PB (props to him for being straight up). Can't wait to get the parts for the rebuild. I'm sure I'll be riding like Chris within a few weeks. ;0)
@sentinel13 theres also another sick video of him on a pimped mongoose fireball. does some crazy gap onto the side of a house, its well worth a watch...
The soundtrack is annoying and the video edit is Stupid why rewind it then play it again ruined this video all togethor and pretty much turns people away from watching his skills !!
I think its awesome how you combine so many kinds of riding on the same bike. It makes it very entertaining to watch because its unpredictable what your going to do next because you do it all and so well. Like a bloody swiss army knife.
hi, anyone know where that trail is in spain? looks like costa blanca but would luv to know? as always chris is superb and the video is awesome , i want to book a flight now!!!
Akrigg is a god on two wheels, seriously, so amazing!!

Also @MatthewCarpenter

(pay particular attention to the eyebrows and the monster energy team colours!)
next dh legend?
next super athlete?
NEXT JESUS?!?!?!?
I THINK SO!
yeah man fair enough
mongoose are under rated though!
and guys, isnt he already famous? when i used to read mbuk 06ish he was all over that?
riding with doddy and that
and its hans rey
'the legend that is hans rey'
chris akrigg is probably his illegitemate love child with martyn ashton
riding will always ulimately have a destination
(unless your a hobo rider? even then your looking for a place to sleep!)
but, its what you do in between!
this is most certainly free ride
hes such a sick rider though, melted my face.
f*cking epic vid though
They are both great riders but to be honest they both ride differant stuff. Macskill has an insane street/trials style riding where as Akrigg is more using his trails technique on natural terrain on a range of bikes.
dangerous riding...
he knows how to control a bike and not damage the parts, thats alot of the skill with bikes
you have this skill too
unless you break parts left and right?
hes good because of course he has talent
but he chooses lines that arent typical or the common one
even if another rider could ride the lines that he could (which some can) they dont try hard enough to find a different line (ingenuity)
this is freeride for sure - the real definition
hes not constrained to race or go a praticular way or do a particular thing
my favourite bit was where he took the steps corner too wide and just popped his wheel up onto the wall
well done!
So what if he's sponsored by Mongoose?
At least he's sponsored and doing what he loves for a living.
Bet most people on here couldn't say that.
what are those manitous up front, i doubt minute could handle all that + it looks 160mm? old nixon perhaps?
3:24 - Not a line I would even imagine, he makes it look soooo easy
(anybody who can't see the above statement has more sarcasm than Chris Akrigg has skill, is fail)
His ryding style is awesome!!
I think he is one of the best!! :-)
He can ride absolutely anything and uses a great combination of skills.
You Rock Chris!
and at 2:22... thats the best
Just picked up a Nugget from Redcorn right here on PB (props to him for being straight up). Can't wait to get the parts for the rebuild. I'm sure I'll be riding like Chris within a few weeks. ;0)
Looks beautiful
VOD :O
most of you are brand whores is what!
Those are some serious skillz
