Weathers been pretty poor at home, so I thought it was time to jump on a plane and jet off for some fun in the sun. I managed to find a cracking deal, but upon arrival, I soon realised the brochure had been a little miss leading! Anyway, not one to complain, sometimes you just have to make the most of what's on offer....
When I'm riding around my neighborhood and jump curbs this is what I think I look like. In reality some driver is probably calling 911 because they think I'm having a seizure.
You really have to watch Chris Akrigg's videos at least 3 times to truly comprehend what just happened, everything looks so easy, never mind the fact that he's on a trail bike!
Everytime I watch I tell myself, "that's it, I am going to go out and get really good at wheelies and shit" then 5 minutes later I am on the couch opening another bag of Flamin Hot Cheetos...
@cool3: third! Danny is technically very skilled but Chris is so creative and arguably the top candidate for a "Best all around bike rider", when you consider all the crazy things he does on vastly different bikes and terrain.
I really hate it when trials riders shoot an edit on a trail bike...eliminates the opportunity for me to think it's just the bike that gives them super powers. Sick edit brother!
Some of you might know Rodney Mullen the skater from back in the day. I used to say this dude sold his soul for perfect balance. Jaw dropping balance! Akrigg might have sold his soul to Mullen. Haha. As someone who appreciates staying on the pedals (no offense to pushing up hills) blending trials riding with MTB is paramount!
Mullen got his balance mastery because his Dad wouldn't let him leave the garage with his skateboard, so he did everything without rolling much. Maybe someone could manufacture a trials master in the same way
Its the smoothness of the transitions and silky smooth riding from Chris that impress me everytime. Favourite rider by far.
Inspired me to practice my wheelies on the way home. Bet i looked like a drunk giraffe on a unicycle though.
My first BMX bike was a Mongoose from Wal-mart and it weighed like 85 pounds, I swore I'd never buy another Mongoose...but then I see Chris Akrigg, and I'm just like 'Damn I gotta' get me one of these!'
Spain, old open cast mining. Not sureste If Riotinto in Huelva or somewhere in Almería. Just imagine Chris's face when he saw that spot for the first time
When I saw the vid the first time was pretty sure that the surrounding landscape is 'Cabo de Gata' National Park in Almeria. I've been there lots of times but don't remember the spot (mineral washery), so I done a little research in Akrigg's twitter and found that photo from 2 April www.instagram.com/p/BDsPB7iG68W
Appears a trafic signal and you can read that the road is in Almeria, also the environmental setting looks like coastal mediterranean (palm trees and all that staff)
I really hope he'll do a brakeless trials edit again, those are some of my all time favourites.
His video portfolio is rather special - vimeo.com/user1089639/videos
