Saturday March 24th – 3:30 pm NZDT
Friday March 23rd – 7:30 pm PDT
Saturday March 24th – 3:30 am CET

From the organizers:

bigquotesThe Triple Crown of Slopestyle‘s first stop begins with an airborne symphony of flips and whips through the Redwoods of Skyline Rotorua Gravity Park. New Zealand’s grand master of the discipline, Kelly McGarry, and his building partner, Tom Hey, designed and built one of the best slopestyle courses in the world before McGarry passed away in 2016. The event was renamed in his honour.

The Rotorua event is a special one for many reasons. Like every Crankworx slopestyle, it is the marquee event of the festival but this particular event also marks the season opener for the Crankworx Slopestyle World Tour, and the launch of the Triple Crown of Slopestyle. The rider who places first in the Crankworx Rotorua Slopestyle in Memory of McGazza launches a quest among the upper echelon of the FMB to secure three Crankworx slopestyle titles in a single year.

There are four slopestyle events. It only takes three to win. The Triple Crown has never been awarded.

I took my then-girlfriend to Highland's Claymore Challenge back in 2012. We've been married for five years now. If you show her how pumped you are for it, she'll probably think it's cute. Make sure to have tasty snacks on hand. Those help a lot.

@LindLTaylor: Your tasty snack comment is pure gold......reminded me of both my wife and daughter who have to take snacks and nick-nacs to any and all events. Kudos to you!

Genius, watch DH with her then bring her to the pump track
  • 8 1
@makripper: haha, that was cute for Tyler to say that but also quite ironic, considering that I said it several times that commenting on judges decisions is silly Big Grin I always loose faith in humanity whenever I see comments where people say who should have won, because what expertize do they have? It’s 20% pure speculation and 80% childish butthurtness..

Yeah, Tyler, if you are reading this, you’re an awesome commentator, you and Needles are bringing new quality to MTB, quite tired of Warner. Awesome to see you ride too. No vaseline, I promise Wink

Every time the same ! ''due to weather blabla bla bla blaaaaa blaaaaa''. It's Like the weather reports don't exist. They push to 30 minutes later each 30 minutes. Sorry Redbull, you will not have my view for this one, I will prefer my bed. And good luck to the riders.
  • 1 0
well the forecast is pretty much 70% chance of rain today. they're pushing their luck but I doubt they were gonna move it a whole day
  • 1 2
@Levin192: thankfully some of us are being out for few pints completely forgetting about this isn’t going to happen, now I’m drunk I got to watch this pretty much with every one else ????
  • 7 0
I don’t think you’ve been to NZ bro, weather forecasting here consists of looking out the window.
  • 5 0
If you've been to NZ you would know that every 30 minutes there is a whole spring-summer-autumm-winter-back to spring loop. Just saying

I feel bad for Rogatkin. He seems like a super nice dude, and when I watch him hit these slopestyle courses, I am just blown away at what he does and find it hard to believe he doesn't win them all. That said, I also can't deny that I enjoy watching other riders more.....I could watch Rheeder ride all day and his run was pure art. I guess this is why I prefer just watching video edits of folks riding or, if there has to be a contest of some sort, watching racing. Not really sure what point I'm trying to get across here other than to say "ride hard folks and enjoy life"

I feel ya!Look at Diegos first run.Waaaaaay under scored.I think its that they must be looking for smooth runs first, not progression.
  • 14 4
Rogatkins first run should have been higher

Please move Whistler Joyride to a earlier time on Saturday August 18th. To be on the safe side.

for real. so much more fun on saturday evening, everyone enjoying sunshine on the hillsides, party afterwards. I don't know if event coordinators for crankworx read this shit, but if you're part of scheduling and you decided this was the way to go, it's pretty hamfisted obvious that it's just a ploy to keep people spending money in the villages for one more night. Next year I'm just gonna watch joyride at home because sunday morning joyride blows
  • 6 0
@anchoricex: Joyride has been moved back to Saturday evening!

For the record, Joyride was moved to Sunday mornings because of a discovery from Joyride 2015, when Joyride was pushed to Sunday morning by a rain delay. The crankworx organizers realized that viewership was way higher when they broadcasted it in the morning because all the Europeans were able to watch.

Anyways, I've been attending Joyride for the last half decade, and was also super bummed out when it got moved - Its been noticeably less rowdy on the boneyard in the mornings Frown

Plan it for Saturday morning. Move it to Saturday evening only if the weather forecast looks good. And leave Sunday as the last option.

@SithBike: Supposed to be raining tomorrow as well. First time I've checked another country's weather forecast

I thought it was really dumb at joyride last year. All the vendors were packed up and ready to end the weekend. Only time I went was on that Sunday. Nothing really special about it. I would have stayed longer if I didn't have work the next day.
