Press Release: Commencal

After their "must watch video - Fuego" released earlier this week, Kilian Bron and his team are back with a book about their latest adventure.

Fuego, named after the volcano of the same name, is a two-month trip through South America, from Guatemala to Peru via Bolivia. The perfect opportunity to make new memories, bring back so many breathtaking images, and meet the Inca, Mayan and Quechua people.

Kilian and his Meta SX take you on a journey up to see erupting volcanoes, high-altitude Ausangate mountains with their red and white contrast, and back down the vertiginous dunes of Cerro Blanco.

This book follows our video "Fuego" and features many photos taken by Jb Liautard and anecdotes of filming by Kilian Bron.

All descriptions in this book are in French and English.

 POD and POTY were my favourite parts of the site. I agree! Pinkbike, please bring them back!

 Doesn't feel like pinkbike without POD

 @straight8: When did they get rid of POTY, I remember us being collectively being pissed off about a photo of tha Matterhorn and some boomer recently.

 The bar is high with Kilian and the Commençal crew, very high. Art, culture, sport, and a certain kind of philosophy mixed together. Hats off to Monsieur Bron, JB Liautard and all the team. You litterally make me dream. Merci Smile

 This guy is Kilian it!

 would be cool if their bikes would last more than 1-2 years before cracking
  • 4 1
 I cracked my Commencal twice last season and now it's an all-out war to find a fair warranty settlement with them. It's like pulling teeth to get treated fairly. Devinci, trek, Santa Cruz have been great to deal with on warranties before. Commencal is the first brand that made it shitty for me.

 3yrs on my early release 21 Meta TR race that I mulleted. I’ve treated it like a mini DH bike and handles all the abuse I’ve thrown at it. Just changed suspension bearings - otherwise all good.

 @Lumenous1: I don't know the reason(s) of these craking issues, but it seems that some users don't do the regular maintenance on their bikes, like greasing the axles and/or changing the bearings when needed.
I got a 2nd hand Transition Smuggler frame last year that was cracking... just because the previous owner never greased the swingarm axle like recommended.
Bikes need some love, like us Wink

 This is such an incredible project! Bravo to the crew. It is stuff like this that sets benchmarks in what the sport can be, and inspires people to get on bikes.

 That the bike rider ads literally nothing to these photos of, albeit, impressive backgrounds?
  • 3 1
 @Linc: You can't have a background if you don't have a foreground.
  • 2 2
 @mi-bike: You could remove the rider and substitute a photo of a sheep into the foreground of any of these pictures and they would all be equally impressive.
  • 4 0
 @Linc: if it'd been a sheep instead of a rider carrying a bike up or pulling off a smooth whip, it would have been *more* impressive.
  • 3 0
 @Linc: this ain’t Pinksheep though.
  • 4 0
 @Linc: the biker rider is literally adding a bike rider to these photos
  • 1 0
 @Linc: That's pretty much what RAAW did for their DH bike release video. And see how well that was received.

 This makes me want to go back to Guatemala. Great people, great food, solid riding where we were. I remember watching Fuego nightly from one of the roof top patios in Antiqua.
