When I comute to work on my road bike wearing my old spare Giro Hex, baggies and Shimano AM45's, I pass loads of roadies both in the other direction and in the literal sense. None of them ever say hi or even nod an acknowledgment.
In mountain biking, I have never experianced that. Countless times I have rocked up in a car park somewhere both alone or with mates and then gone riding with some other like minded folks for which we will ride with, banter with but never know the name of.
I love it. Thats a community.
PS - Im not refering to dogging here!
One of the best write up/photo journalism trips I've seen in a long time. This dude just has so much damned fun that you can't help but smile. Those pictures are so dope. You can feel the vibe.
I love the WTF shots. LOL!
Seriously man. Cam is doing it all right right now. Reminds me of Craig Kelly. Transitioned out of doing events to do video segments, trips and what not at just the right time. Really opened the world up to what's possible. All about the vibe, the experience, the people, etc.
Be interesting to see Cam and a few people put together a ride around the world trip. It would be tough on the families but it would be pretty damned amazing.
the chill house is he name of the place. They do three options. Enduro, moderate downhill (which is just the enduro trails but with a shuttle and Bali bike park. it is about 135aud and that includes all the shuttles and bike hire (specialized enduros). they have a really cool idea where you keep riding until you can no longer hang on. the url is www.thechillhouse.com . im going to Bali these school holidays so hopefully my foot is better (i broke it and got the cast off on Monday) so i can ride here. They also offer accommodation
Very well done Anthill! My wife and I just returned from riding in Bali. Such an awesome place - very friendly people, beautiful lanscapes, amazing food and a quickly emerging mtb scene which is exposing awesone new trails. Our accommodations were made at The Chillhouse which IMO is the must go place to stay for mtb'n (and surfing, and yoga) in Bali.
Wow PinkBike. This is free? This kind of content would be the feature article in any bike mag just a year or two ago, now we get it at our desktops, phones and tablets for free. Crazy good work, hope Sterling saved a few bangers for the print media boys too.
too bad that I missed the chance to meet Cam while he is in Indonesia, always been my favorite rider since I saw his bird-tattoo-forehead section in Season ^_^"
Definitely one of my number one places I want to go, just came back from a month in Thailand done all hill tribe treks etc... the trails in the jungle just made you wish you had your bike with you!, looks super similar to bali, awesome photography filming just makes you want to go out and RIDE.
Awesome article! Did you folks dis cuss the genocide of West Papuan peoples by the Government of Indonesia with locals? Or the Conflict palm oil plantations eating into the jungle? be interesting to hear what the locals and mountain biking middle class think about these tings. Well, for me any how!
Well, I would love to but you wouldn't go on a bike holiday in Hitler's Germany and give money to a Nazi state...so.. why go on holiday to a plae whose government is shooting tribal people in an annexed country next door?
Check out the Bali Mountain Bike Marathon, which will cover some of the same tracks featured. It will be held on the 29th of May 2016. 80 KMs of the best landscapes in the world! balibiking.com FB: Bali Mountain Bike Marathon
very interesting to see one of cam's "riding buddies" (guides?) on an Evil. I doubt he picked that up in a local shop... and nice stealth advertising, Shimano... I don't think anyone realized they were watching a commercial. ps - one day I'll go to bali, but I'll probably leave my bike at home. Sweet photos though
We went there on honeymoon and unfortunately didnt find these guys, my wife rides too so wouldve been awesome. Such wicked people out there. Highly reccomended.

I only ask because I was only looking at the pictures not the words (sorry Mr McCaul, I'm sure it was pure poetry)
