Starting the second half of the 2018 season, the NW Cup heads to Stevens Pass Bike Park for some early season hero dirt. Stevens has been on the circuit for quite a few years now as the third venue to play host to a NW Cup. Berserker, Slingshot Wookie, Rock Crusher, Pirahna Bird have played host to some tight battles over the past few years.
The overall standings so far this year are already starting to produce some drama as seen here. As a home track for a large group of NW Cup regulars, racers will be looking to shuffle the deck a bit and position themselves for the home stretch for a couple rounds until we return to the same spot for the finals. Another trip to Tamarack, Idaho for a Pro GRT, and an inaugural trip to Whitefish, Montana will fill in the blanks between now and then. For now, let's focus on the task at hand.
As mentioned above, Stevens Pass Bike Park is home to a lot of NW Cup regulars, but few as much as Declan Ervin #178. It was on these tracks as much as any other where Declan showed his grit, and it's for this reason that we are dedicating Stevens 1 to him and will be announcing a new trophy in his memory. The trophy will be awarded to the rider that shows the same giv'er attitude and commitment as Declan did, and will be passed along from year to year to the next up and comer.
Thanks to Kody Clark with All Out Racing for some very descriptive course previews.
