Cow Trail Classic and Kids Mountain Bike Race
The race is one or two 16Km loops showcasing our best trail system with the fastest and most flowing singletrack that you can imagine. We’d like to encourage all levels of riders from beginner to elite to race with us this year. Elite racers, this will be the fastest and most fun 32kms that you’ll race all summer. Beginner racers, this will be the perfect entry to the world and adventure of mountain bike racing. Why not sign up the whole family? The kids loop will start at 9am and the big race will follow shortly after at about 10am
Total elevation gain for one 16KM loop of the race will be 676 Meters, it's one tough climb followed by one long rewarding downhill - it really appeals to all riders.
Please check out the races website for more info. The trail is just about open for the season so come join our club for a group ride and try out the loop! We promise it will become a stop on your future trips through Merritt.
Kids Race
We've added a 4km race for kids between 7 and 12. The 4km children's race will take place on Saturday, June 11, 2016.
Parents can ride behind the group, in order to escort the child through the race (if needed, but not required). Every racer will get something; top three get medals! Courses will be double track climb in the open grasslands with a smooth singletrack trail with a moderate decline through the forest. Medals, race numbers and prizes will be on hand so that every kid is sure to go home with something.

In my opinion, it is crucial to support events in smaller communities like Merritt or Williams Lake. Not only is it a great motivator and fundraiser for the local club, it also helps to raise the profile of our sport in the communities. Locals see a direct economic impact from visiting riders: money spent on gas, food, accommodation, beer, etc. It all helps to gain community support for future trail projects.
