 All bike durabilty standards should be benchmarked by Kaos' Transition from last year's Hardline. He had about four bike-killing crashes and still rode it to the finish line.

I''d bought a transition not long before that as somewhat of an impulse buy. That definitely reassured me on build quality and that my bike should be fine on my well-what-sort-of-red-trail-is-it? riding style*

 There must be a standard on counting clicks from close/open I didn't know about but everyone doing bike checks just know.

 Fox and RS do from closed. CaneCreek (at least use to) do it from open.

 There kinda is. In valving, open is theoretically an infinite adjustment, limited only by the size of ports or valves and the range of the adjuster, but closed is an absolute. Due to the smallest of inconsistencies in tolerances, each fork could be slightly different in how many clicks are available and needed to obtain a given level of damping, in the open direction. I’ve come across a few shocks or forks, usually on the cheaper end that have a different number of damping clicks between the same model and year of fork (ie the rebound on one had 18 clicks, the other I could get 19 total). This could all be down to a small variance in parts that allows for one extra click or one less, but between both forks, closed is closed, and 4 clicks from closed should theoretically be the same.

I’d stop 29’ers, and tracks wouldn’t go straight down a hill, they would be gnarlier like they were back in the day.

 Man those images are annoyingly low resolution. Bike looks sick still! Love my sender Mk.1 despite all the terrible customer service issues when I had to return it under Warranty (and Fox Shock recall at the same time)... 4 months no bike after the rear link was broke (I did get one of the first ones so likely resolved any Quality issues since 2016)

 Always a bit surprised by how narrow a lot of pros run their bars. Are there many folks running 800+ bars? Or are us normies on stock 800s doing it all wrong?

 Put your hands out in front of you an exaggerate holding some wide bars, now pretend to lean into a corner and push your inside arm down. Now do it with your hands closer together. See how much more leverage you get with narrower bars?

 @PeterT: @PeterT: not about leverage, but mobility. Grab a pair of loose bars at an 800 width. Try to move the bars in a circle, from side to side, and forward and back. Do that same thing with your hands at 750 and again at 700. What you’ll notice is you can move the smaller bars further away from you, more from side to side, and more easily in a circle. If the bars are too wide, you’ll also lack strength at your extremes putting you less in control and more at risk for injury, particularly shoulders. So bar width is really so much about body dimensions and finding the perfect balance of leverage, posture, and body type. Really most people are running way too wide of bars and afraid to trim them down because they love the leverage and perceived control

Example, my GF, 5’6”, was riding with 780’s on her trail bike for the last few years set up that way by previous Bf’s. She had a crash at one point injuring her shoulder, labrum tear, and is to undergo repair. When she moved her to the PNW she was complaining a lot about her shoulder hurting her on rides, the inability to get her weight back on steep terrain, and difficulties making steep turns. I swapped her bars with a set of 750’s I had kicking around, even though she was reluctant because she was afraid of losing leverage. On the very next ride her shoulder was less painful (almost non-existent), she was more confident on the steep terrain, and able to move the bike around more and much quicker. She also said it helped with her lower back because on the climbs she was sitting more upright.

Mathematically that doesn’t commute.

Leverage or Moment arm = F x d
This means if the force is constant, the longer the bar is the more leverage you will have.

Like another guy has already said, the only reason for the narrow bars is to be more nibble.

In the EWS, pros are running 750mm because if they don’t their handle bars will clip a rock wall or a tree.

 @Happypanda1337: It's just like mtnbykr05 said. It is not about clipping a rock or a tree. Is about the range of movement. Bar width should be a function of the width of your shoulders and length of your arms.
You simply can lean a bike more with shorter bars. Too wide bar will restrict range of movement, too short will make the bike feel nervous.

 I have one as standard in my NS Fuzz. 8mm of adjustment either side of centre line, so 462-478mm. It's a good system.

 Waited all summer to buy the new Sender only to find out it comes in 29 only. Shame.

 The smaller sizes are mixed wheel. If i remember right small and medium. The rest are full 29

 You can actually put a 27.5 fork on that bike. But because you’ll drop 0.75 in [19.05 mm], you’ll need an angle set to get it to 63.5 degrees. And then you’ll probably have to change the shock stroke to compensate for the bb drop. But I do think they still offer their All 27.5

But I’ve personally never tried a mullet. It might be amazing. I mean moto has been doing it for years.
