This is the starting point! That's Nick Simcik checking it out! Pretty gnarly!

photo
Then riders will be skidding down this rock and spiraling into the 18ft high by 22ft out drop!

photo
The drop! Miller and other chilling at bottom! The hip looks sick!

photo
The Hip! Going be awesome to see what comes out of here!

photo
The Hip!

photo
The more laid back wall ride! Should be seeing some spins, t-whips, and maybe some flairs!

photo
Into this spin hand/foot/air spine feature!

photo
Right into the kicker for the double whale! Pretty crazy if you ask me!

photo
YUP! Going to be sick!

photo
Make sure to watch live on Pinkbike to see the action! hahahah

photo
Getting down is not going to be as easy as getting up! Here Miller has to give it his all, hahha!

photo
Decent size double right after the landing of the second whale tail!

photo
The ender! Very cool course if it all works out! Good luck to the riders!

I'm not to sure how I feel about Cowan's course design...
  • 9 1
If you ask me it looks kind beat...there's only like 6 stunts or something?
  • 7 1
i agree with the first two comment, im thinking they could have put some alternative lines in there. it looks really short.
  • 3 3
I think the course designers are trying too hard. Same for Whistler last year, too many cool looking features that the riders can't do anything off - e.g. Wallrides, how much can you do off a wallride?. The best slopestyle courses are the ones with lots of big jumps that have easy take offs and landings so the riders can show their stuff.

mr-eric is right, this course is looking way better than the one in Whistler right now, although the dual slalom course here in Whistler is looking amazing!
  • 1 0
wow thats pretty gnarcore i must say
  • 4 0
Yeah but nzstormer, if you build a line of dirt jumps with easy take-offs and landings, all you have is a dirt jump line, that contradicts the whole idea of slopstyle. although this course seem a bit bare.
  • 7 0
seems really short. not sure if I like that. riders cant do all of their tricks, and runs will be like not even 30 seconds. might be good during the competition tho, we will have to wait and see

Quote from Claws twitter page: "One of the builders for the course was riding it on his bmx..... need I say more? or have we really just went that far backwards?"

Highland had the right idea with there slope-style course,

I'll be there tomorrow! Big Grin So stoked to see this go down

  • 2 0
what time zone are those times for? I don't want to miss out over here!

 Cheers!
  • 2 1
those double whales look gnarly cant wait to see what gonna be thrown down on them
  • 2 2
Whoever narrated the photos needs to cut back on the caffeine. Anyways, course looks gnarly, but the double whales seem to be a bit redundant...They look too close together to have any tricks thrown... Now, if it was a 5 ft drop PLUS a 10-15 ft gap onto the second whale tail, then it might be interesting...
  • 1 0
i agree about the whales, defo should be a decent sized stepdown between them... it would make tricks like a flip in between them both more likely and more gnarly, and also more fun for the riders.
  • 1 1
Yeah, just to let you guys know i too noticed the backwards whales in the CAD preview video.
  • 3 0
That double whale looks interesting. The tranny off of the second whale looks a bit just a touch far off, considering the momentum loss on the whales. I'm curious to see if anyone is going to case the landing. The DH course looks great. I love that it's got a few gnar sections mixed in with some wicked high-speed open sections. Looks like fun.

course looks short and not very forward thinking. I'm kind of disappointed, but we'll see what the riders do with it.
  • 1 1
i agree dude, i think their runs are going to blend into similar runs also. needed more lines. only one double bro! strange
  • 4 0
I think the best part about this course being shorter is that the riders will have to throw something crazy/stupid on the last trick booter if they want a good score...
  • 3 2
Holy crap this course looks insane..... especially the start and that hip.. More big freeride than slopestyle, Semenuk has the win here, he has no trouble tricking huge stuff unlike some of those dirt jump dudes
  • 1 0
what about mccaul or watts? i say mccaul, semenuk, watts
  • 1 0
Not enough options, not a big enough course in my opinion, if they gave it mroe options like the claymore challenge and had a nice big booter at the end, THAT would make it good.
  • 1 0
im thinkin mccaul has the win on this one. but wasnth there going to be the contest like last year where we put in the top 10 for crankworx and whoever gets it right wins a bunch of stuff
  • 1 0
Pretty awesome! Phil-rides-a-bike is right! From my perspective, the drop in is the most sketchyest thing on the whole track. Gnarly like it has to be!
  • 1 0
i might be able to see the qualifiers but then im away Frown i guess there will be a sik edit of the finals on here by next week though!
  • 1 0
anyone else think the riders are going to have way too much speed out of the hip into that tiny wall ride? nothing worse than having to pound the brakes before a feature
  • 3 0
Needs more straight jumps! Can't have a slopestyle comp with 1 jump in it.
  • 2 0
 True that.
  • 1 0
Does anybody know how to build any of this like the wallrides or whale tails? or a smaller version? if so you should post the build plans!
  • 2 0
That setup looks gnarly. Can't wait to see some riders hit it.
  • 3 1
It needs more doesnt seem like enough
  • 1 0
If some guy was riding it on his BMX, then he's just a G, especially if he rode that first rock and into the 18' drop.
  • 1 0
this is a sick course and i hope that everybody does good on it and that it is a sick comp bk
  • 1 0
any big name dhers there for the dh?
  • 5 0
 I saw Melissa Buell!
  • 1 0
I really like the first part of the course! That's Freeride at its best!
  • 1 0
holly shit a sprial to a 18 ft drop!!!!!!!!!
  • 1 0
isnt that the same start point as last year?
  • 1 1
that corse is gowing to be relly narley and funn i wish i was gowing this year errr
  • 1 0
the key will be to triple trick on,in the middle and off of the whale.
  • 3 1
im thinking flip on, 3 the middle and flipwhip the last....but thats just me
  • 4 0
would be damn awkward 3ing that middle 1 man.
  • 1 0
true, that....but the thing definatly is wide enough, and the riders are more than capable
  • 1 0
nah the wideness is algood, the mellow lip and considering its a step up means people are gunna be more focussed on making it over it than tricking it big
  • 1 0
The course is alot smaller than last year... but it still looks sick!!!
  • 2 2
is Fogelquist doing this, or is he still in whistler?
  • 2 1
The famous Jake Fogelquist will be in attendance yes.
  • 2 1
 boomstick gnarly...
  • 1 0
 this is one ill track
  • 1 0
 i'll be there! Big Grin
  • 1 1
 holyshit!
