the $30,000 is still split between all the prize winners, so the winner won't get the whole $30,000.

So why do the women get such a pathetic prize fund? surely by now this sort of discrimination should be gone from MTB.

Well the prizes are funded by the sponsors, and the sponsors only fund the event to get publicity. Unfortunately for the women, they don't attract as much media or spectator attention as the men do, so there is not the same allure to put up big prize money. This is not discrimination nor sexism, but rather simple economics. Hopefully one day the women slopestyle riders will be as well known as the men, and there is as much talk about who's going to win the female event, etc. as there is with the men's event. Right now though it's not happening, which I think is a shame. Think of it in the same way as the highest level male netball players would be paid less than the highest level female netballers. It's all to do with publicity and how many people turn up to the games.
