I think it has something to do with media accreditation. Champs are often broadcasted in national TV channels around the world, I guess they have to pay a lot more than for "just" a World Cup.

There's not much out there for world champs and I'm fairly certain shaborider is correct without any evidence to back that up. This and On Track are the best racing documentary series by far. This is awesome.

It must have something to do with Red Bull and their sponsorship, as it was even weird with the broadcast of World Champs.
