Despite downpours and rapidly melting snow, over 100 people came out to try and prove that they were in fact, the Kings and Queens of Whistler mountain when it comes to both winter and summer sports.

Competitors on either skis or snowboards made their way down the snow section of the course, from the Peak to Peak terminal on Whistler, down Whiskey Jack, Orange Peel, Bear Cub and Expressway to the snow line at the Containers. From there, they either transferred over to their downhill mountain bike gear and bike or tagged off to a teammate. The bike section of the course took racers the rest of the way down Expressway, up the Mountain Road for a couple hundred meters then onto Super Fantastic, B-Line, Ho Chi Min, Longhorn, Monkey Hands and across the Muddy Boneyard to the finish.

This event is steeped in tradition and many previous champs were out defend their titles. It seems as though Robin Courcelles (Male Ski 40+ 13:45.47) and James McSkimming (Male Ski 19-39 13:06.23) are un-beatable. They have both held the top spot of their respective categories for multiple years. Also staying on top in their category, mixed team of Sarah Hogg and Jim Montrose proved they are the ones to beat at 13:03.96. However, new team of Mark Owen and Shaun Fry in the male team category were the fastest of the day with a total time of 12:36.26 the only racers with a time sub 13 minutes. Ross Dunlop continued his domination in the Solo Male SB 19-39 adding a 4th title to his collection at 13:03.69 and managed to wrap up the overall title with fastest solo time of the day.

New for 2014 we were able to time the snow, transition zone and bike sections separately and there is now proof that having a quick transition is just as important as being fast on course.

Fastest on the snow - Rob McSkimming with a ski time of 3:36.41
Fastest in solo transition - Wendy Robinson with a transfer time of only 0:24.48
Fastest in team transition - Mark Owen passing off to Shaun Fry in only 0:22.45
Fastest on the bike - Shaun Fry with a bike time of 7:59.81

After the crud was dry and the mud was hosed down, Results and Apres were held at the GLC with food and live music all washed down with an Glacier Fresh Kokanee. And many competitors walked away with a draw prize courtesy of our bike park sponsors including: a Rock Shox World Cup Boxxer Fork, a Sram drive train, a 2014 Whistler Mountain Bike Park season pass, some Kokanee swag, Dakine clothing, Garbanzo Bike and Bean gear, Maxxis tires and tubes, Avid brakes, a GoPro camera and more.

He's unable to comply with your request at the moment, as his ego has inflated to such a level that he is unable to leave his little mechanic workshop without assistance from the fire department.
