Dakotah Norton: Made in Michigan - Video

Apr 16, 2018
by UniorDevinciFactoryRacing

Unior Devinci’s Dakotah Norton materialized out of nowhere when in 2015 the unknown entity floored the MTB world by collecting multiple Crankworx podiums. But “nowhere” has a name, and in Dakotah’s case it’s Davison, Michigan—his hometown. Branching beyond those Midwest origins, the protégé recently stuffed bikes and belongings into a sprinter van for a transformative adventure across North America.

In this episode of Made in Michigan, Dakotah swerves toward San Diego, CA, where he connects with some old friends. From BMX park missions to DH trail sessions, the crew eventually lands in the Lake Arrowhead area of the San Bernardino National Forest, where Santa apparently hangs his off-season hat. Turns out the big guy likes to send it.

PB we need more articles about living the Van Life, the ins-and-outs of it, price of vehicles, remodels, genius storage methods, kitchen essentials, and everything else.

Agreed! While we wait, I'd recommend TWSnow's Adventuremobile series, some of them get pretty in-depth: snowboarding.transworld.net/search/adventuremobiles

Please no.. the beauty of the van life is that not that much people are into it. The worst thing that could happen to the van life is becoming too mainstream and over regulated. I'm not telling you not try it but if you do, just experience it yourself, don't do it because it's "trendy on pinkbike"

@freeridelover: pretty sure we're well past the line of vanlife going too mainstream.

The best way to learn all of this is by just doing it. We've built 5 vans in the past few years and each one just keeps getting built better and better.

Would also like to know how you find the "van life" in a Mercedes sprinter- sponsors? Working and saving? Wealthy parents??

Trudat! I'm a Michigan transplant temporarily living in the Southwest. I get over to Santa Cruz trails as often as time allows. UCSC trails are so dope! Demo Forrest is a ton of fun too! Lots of good shreds going on in Santa Cruz. But you gotta know a local to hit the good stuff. I'm lucky :-)
